Wow. I’ve walked passed this coffee shop for months and I was missing out! Amazing service and this expresso is as perfect. The Columbian coffee bean he described as sweet and chocolatey. It was exactly that 10/10. also he gave me sparking and still water without me asking !
I was immediately amazed by the menu, I ordered the Liquid Gold, and Matcha Tonic because I’m obsessed with Matcha and their quality exceeded my expectation. Our barista Vicente was so friendly, warm and a true gentleman. My favorite was the Beef Chorizo Burrito. Great place with a calm vibe with great drinks and food.
so real
This place is great. Friendly staff and delicious coffee. My faves are the Vanilla Oaty and The Figueroa. Also love their instant coffee packets. They give me a great boost for my Jiu-jitsu training.
Airy and spacious place to work or read for a few hours. The barista and cashier were some of the warmest and most welcoming people I've met at a coffeeshop. For coffee, I got the lavender latte, and it was clear that the baristas really know what they're doing there! The latte was nicely balanced and there was some incredible foam art on top. I also got the avocado toast, which was pretty simple (avacado and peas on toast), but was seasoned well and very tasty. Can't wait to go back!
Gorgeous
Decent latte, not very friendly. So much attitude.
Staff was rude and coffee tastes like Starbucks. Verve down the street is so much better and more friendly.
Whoever the owner is needs to fire the dude with long hair. Horrible customer service. I ordered a breakfast burrito, it came to me with no salsa, I asked for salsa please, they replied they were out. I said I wish you would have told me when I ordered. He said “what’s the difference” and I said I don’t want a burrito with no salsa that is intended and comes with salsa normally. He said would you like a refund? I accepted. He then was like “are you kidding me?” As I packed up to leave and walk out the door he sits at counter and stops working to eat the burrito himself and waved goodbye to me with a smirk. Horrible experience. Never have I seen someone work in customer service who acted with such hate and malice to a customer over a breakfast burrito.
Awesome coffee and fantastic service! It's a beautiful place to enjoy some java!
Nice place , good view of the busy streets of l.a , spacious, quiet , nice decor instagram worthy , the cashier was nice I brought a apple pastries for about 6.00 it was pretty good just doors down from my model call with was convenient. There's a lot of light in the building . Parking sucks, meter parking , street parking , I didn't get the water you see in the picture from there
Cute place but they never open on time.
Love love the host/MC Felix he's hilarious! The whole lineup was great!!
Great vibe inside Civil Coffee. Staff was friendly and professional. Had the Angeleno Burrito which had a different kind of flavor to it but tasty nonetheless
8:20 AM on Saturday morning, not open. Door says daily at 8:00. Every other coffee shop in the neighborhood is busy already. Won't be able to pay rent missing all that business.
I have enjoyed Civil Coffee's coffee and space in Highland Park and this new DTLA cafe has a different look and vibe. It is spacious, and neat with full wall street windows. I like the bright space to enjoy my breakfast. I had a cortado and a breakfast burrito, both are good, not phenomenal. The burrito is not made to order and just heated up here so it's not as fresh and tasty at the OG location.
This location used to be Stumptown coffee’s second(or third depending on Ace hotel popup coffee) location right before covid. But even before covid, I wonder this location is a reasonable choice. Anyhow, no Civil coffee takes over this location and I am curious whether this makes it.
Normally this is my go-to place for grabbing coffee because it's amazing (the Figueroa specifically). However, I will not be ordering anymore food from here. I ordered my usual coffee and decided to order a breakfast burrito on the side. The guy rings me up and then I pay and wait for my coffee. I look over and I see him touch my burrito and put it on the grill. At first, I thought I was tripping so I let it slide and just watched him carefully. He then proceeds to take other customers orders touching the screen, touches his nose, just to use his hands to flip over my burrito. I then see him touch his hair, and once my food was done take his hands to package it up. I immediately ask for a refund for the burrito. He did offer to remake the burrito, but I kindly declined. With everything going on right now, places should handle food better. Very unsanitary. I appreciate the lady who made my coffee and used tongs and washed her hands properly.
I’ve come to this place several times and they have great matcha donuts! 4/5 stars because I normally order the matcha latte but the last few times there were bristles from the brush in my drink. I mentioned it to the barista the first time and they changed the brush but it has happened twice since then so I haven’t been back. They have the best tasting matcha lattes in the area though!
Was excited to try this spot but the milk in my matcha was extremely sour / spoiled tasting. It was undrinkable. Never had a matcha like it
