Half way between Redding and Fortuna, we like to stop for coffee or tea and a salad or sandwich.

The Cafe is great! They have good breakfast, coffee, and desserts if you're ever driving down 299 and want to take a break. They sell merchandise from local artists and have a beautiful spot overlooking the trinity river.

We stopped here for coffee on our road trip just because we randomly found it on Google Maps and it looked so nice. It’s even prettier in reality. The coffee, brownie and cookie was great. The terrace is beautiful. The team was great and to round it off, I was smart enough to forget my wallet there and they sent it to me vial mail. What a special place and such helpful, kind people! Highly recommend!

Awakening coffee and delicious food. We stopped here on our way to the coast on a Friday evening. The staff was lovely and made the coffee and food quickly! The building looks to be an earthen house made of clay and has an amazing river view in which one can enjoy the serenity and peace of the Big Flats. It is a great halfway point between Eureka and Redding on a trip where you can grab a delightful pick me up. Cannot wait to return for the views and try more tasty foods.

Been going there for a long time. The scones used to be so delicious. Now I can only take a few bites without getting overloaded with sugar. Please change the recipe back to what it used to be, much better, and edible. Everything else is splendid

"This is where I want to spend every morning sipping coffee, listening to the river, and setting my 1 or 8 intentions for the day. I ordered a small dirty Chai and a large iced coffee. Both perfect! Kelsey & Jake were so friendly I would go there every morning for coffee and the view. My third day there, I tried the avocado toast. Coffee is my morning routine and when I'm out trying a new place, or far from the next round, I’ll double fist. As an #avocadolover this toast was a post-river rafting treat; I loved the balsamic dabs across the top. Happy rowing and happy belly! Thankful for this special sanctuary on the Trinity River - Strawhouse is one of my top 108 is Magic stops for Coffee. "

Great food, sandwiches coffee, wood fired pizza, views, wedding receptions, rooms, fishing on the Trinity river, and feet off of hwy 299. Only thing missing is some mountain bike trails. They might know a few that I haven't discovered. This is that place if you pass it your gonna regret it. Check it out..

An oasis on a long lonely drive! Was driving through during the big storm a few days ago. I needed a restroom and could not have been happier to find this gem. Excellent coffee, great local crafts, friendly helpful staff (Thank you Penny!!) and a gorgeous setting. The Trinity was at capacity and near whole trees were tumbling along the rushing water but still picturesque! Would love to come back on a warm sunny day 😊 This stop is a must if you ever find yourself on 299 🏞
