These people absolutely miss the mark when it comes to tipping. They remove all joy from “giving” by making it mandatory and automatic. First of all, this place is not cheap. Reaching behind you to grab a loaf of bread to go (already in a bag) does not warrant a dollar tip. Making a coffee- yes, that’s a service but grabbing something I could easy grab myself and charging me a dollar for that puts a bad taste in my mouth. If the guy had even greeted me properly, might’ve warranted that dollar but I got absolutely zero gratitude. Will definitely not come back here. Tips. Are. Optional!!! Very bad business practice by stealing from customers to make up for your lack of wages.
9 bucks for a 16oz Chai No wonder students are living in their vehicles
The food was delicious except the burger was under done they did replace it. No additions no deletions no exceptions.
There's a local cafe near the main square that's quite popular among the locals. The food they serve is simple, fresh, and delicious. It's worth noting that they don't offer table service, so customers are expected to clean up their tables after they finish their meals.
I’m still waiting for a call from the owner to explain why the prices displayed in the case, didn’t match the price charged. It took over a month, since brio raised the prices but neglected to raise the prices in the case. I was rudely hung up on and was told I was the only customer that noticed!
Best croissant ever!! 🥐 Very friendly and kind staff
Excellent breakfast and lunch options. Quality baked goods for those in a hurry, or hot breakfast if you're looking to sit down and relax. Solid vegetarian and vegan options (I had the potatoes+greens+tofu but was very tempted by the meatless croque madame.) Even the cookies are outstanding!
HONESTLY, the tables can be a little grimey from the self-bussing and the line can be long on weekends, but the vegan burger was great (the onion-y ketchup could be sold by itself). I'm glad they had an option. The real shining star is the few cappuccinos I've had with oat milk. I don't know what kind of coffee they use, but it's the BEST one I've had up here and I've trialed most of the local coffee spots. I can't stop thinking about it- creamy, a little bitter, smooth.
The almond croissants are the best! 🤤
Always quality tasty food! Best coffee in arcata too.
Food was good, but I came here to get some work done and they don’t provide any sort of WiFi whatsoever. I assume it’s to increase turnover, but the place was not even close to full. After paying $20 for potatoes and eggs, a piece of toast, and a coffee, then 20% tip to place my order at a counter, pickup my food when it’s ready, then bus my table, and a 3% employee surcharge, I guess I expected to at least be able to get some work done. Sat on the patio and had an unnerving encounter with a homeless person. Overall good food, but wouldn’t go back.
Burned espresso, burned milk. Ordered a cortado, asked specifically for body temperature and the milk was scalded. The espresso tasted burned.
This place is great. The food was delicious and service was appropriate.
So far no food has disappointed. The coffee was very delicious and well described on the board. I wish they opened the second cashier as there’s ALWAYS a long line. Not many great gluten-free options. Very much enjoy this place.
Worst time ever had in Humboldt had to wait for my food for a hour while I watched people that ordered burgers, Benedict's, and other breakfast items after we had ordered but yet they got their food before we did as well as they were able to finish their food before getting ours worst place to eat if u want breakfast didn't even eat my food because I had to wait a hour before I even got my food wouldn't recommend this place to friends horrible experience
Food is outstanding, location is great, and the music really hits the spot. Get there early if you don't want to miss out on the pastries, which are amazing .
VERY PRICEY Got a $17 salad. Less than a cup of lettuce, a quarter avocado, sliced strawberries and walnuts. Pretty disappointed.
Cute nice little breakfast place. Good vegan option. The croissants are amazing
NO WiFi... seriously... Nice little place, but not as good as expected considering the prices, tables, layout, and self-serve, etc. The omelet tasted good - ingredients seemed fresh, possibly organic, and the coffee was ok... not as good as McDonald's. I doubt I would go twice. No WiFi... wow.
SUCH a delicious cafe. Outstanding pastries - I cannot recommend the chocolate croissant heated up more highly. Also the lattes are lovely, including their chai which is a local blend.
