Food is trying too hard to be different and the flavors are bold but a simple ham and cheese sandwich was not good. I did appreciate the service and outdoor seating arrangements though
We came across this place while searching for brunch places as we arrived into town. It was easy to find and we found parking on a side street. We were welcomed with a smile and someone explained us the process to order. We arrived after breakfast, so we had to order from the lunch menu. I had the Pimento burger and my spouse the Spicy banh mi. We were told that the food was going to take around 50 minutes, but we decided to ordered anyway. The food came to out table and in probably around 20 mins. The Burger and sandwich came with a side salad, which was delicious. Portions were reasonable and we left feeling full. My spouse's sandwich wasn't as spicy, but it was still good
I think this place had the best burger and salad I ever did have the opportunity to taste! as a queer woman in arkansas this place feels like a safe haven with inclusive and friendly staff members, and great decor. such a delicious menu and is a great place to take your date or friends! this place is also a must-go if you're wanting to go out to eat but don't want something super greasy or heavy!
Went on Mother's Day after 4p for dinner. They were out of dessert. The fresh fruit was not on point ,3 misses. Tried the deviled eggs they were different but not going to be a repeat. All of this is not typical and and my daughter had a hair in her burger, which is not surprising as no hairnets are worn here. I am a fan of the Root, so I will be back, but I hope the kinks in the service are worked out.
Great caffee! Tuesday is a chess night.. awesome for chess fan!🔥
Pimento burger was delicious! Meat was well-seasoned, perfectly dressed, and pickles had a nice tangy balance of sweet and sour. Would prefer the sweet potatoes to be cut a half size smaller and crispier, but the sauce that came with it was mouth-watering.
Found this place while traveling through Little Rock. It’s AMAZING!!! Best sweet potato fries I’ve had anywhere in the nation!!! Everything is made fresh so if you’re in a hurry, order online. We didn’t think to order ahead but it was totally worth the wait!!!!
I chose The Root Cafe since this lovely place was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. Man, am I glad that I did! The taste of organic just resonates through every bite! I ordered the omelette with salad. I thought that was a strange combination until I ate it together. I think I would literally plan a trip back to Little Rock from Michigan just to eat at The Root Cafe again!
The best place to eat everything is good salad is amazing
The pimento burger, mushroom burger, and grilled ham cheese were excellent. We enjoyed them very much! I will definitely order those again. The Country Captain was not good. Kind of slimy, would have been so much better with roasted mushroom and the flavor was missing something. No one liked it. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
What a wonderful experience! My husband and I had such a lovely dinner here this evening. We loved everything we ate. The Italian cream soda is insanely good. We also had cornbread, curry chicken salad salad, a mushroom dish (which I sadly forgot the name of) with grits, and bread pudding. All the staff was super friendly and it was obvious that they care deeply about the work they do. Our server, Katie, was especially wonderful. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience.
A friend took 3 of us out to lunch. He is retired and since moved. Online it shows breakfast 8 am till 11 am. Lunch 11 am till 2 pm. Dinner 2 pm till closing. We showed up at noon to eat a pimento cheese burger that my friend raved on only to be told that lunch doesn't start till 2 pm. We were disappointed greatly. We ate breakfast instead but won't get that chance with our friends again.
Their burgers are sooooo juicy and delicious! I also loved having the side salad instead of fries on the side with the meal as it adds a light touch to a heavy burger. Beautifully crafted! Their fries are also delicious for an appetizer or side as well. Stop on in the atmosphere and staff are electric!
Saw this spot on DDD years ago and had marked it to visit. Enjoyed the super casual atmosphere and the food was delicious. Menu has plenty of vegetarian/vegan options if this is what you're looking for. The meat options were good. We enjoyed the pimento dip, ham & cheese, pimento burger, and State Fair brat. Easily could have split one of these and been full. Good spot to visit and hope to try a cocktail next visit.
The Root Cafe obviously uses the best ingredients because everything we have tried there tastes fresh and delicious. My girls rated the choc chip pancakes with whipped butter and REAL maple syrup. The coffee was some of the best we have had in the US (real coffee, just like what we can get in Australia). Poached eggs were poached to perfection, and the ham was delicious. The staff were friendly and polite. It's counter service, which seems to confuse a few people used to the typical over the top customer service common in the US. We felt right at home. Anytime we are in Little Rock we will be coming here for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Everyone in there had an attitude with my partner and I, especially the older lady who said “we don’t have a host right now” and then proceeded to work around us and ignore us. We ended up not being able to order food because after standing there for 20 minutes without being seated, lunch was ending in 15 and they “aren’t doing that anymore” We asked for dinner menus and we’re still met with attitude so we left. So many other places in Little Rock that are more worth your time… sad because their stuff looks so good and the other reviews are delightful!
My Family had a great dinner here recently. The old fashion and pimento cheese burger were very delicious. Fries, both sweet potato and regular, cooked to perfection.
stopped here on the way to Hot Springs and we are so glad we did. You order inside and they bring your food out to you. Skye took our order and she was super friendly. We ordered the biscuits & gravy with 2 eggs, Sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit and the buttermilk pancake stack....everything was delicious! Our bill came to about $33 for my hubby and I. We were able to sit out in their covered patio with our puppy. Parking lot holds about 10 cars. We came right when they opened and the lot was completely full by the time we left. We would definitely come back if we're ever in the area again.
Both of our sandwiches were delicious. Chicken salad tasted super fresh and the Indian spices in it were lovely. The beef in the Jamn skippy was very flavorful, and the jam and cheese on it was delicious. Also ordered a spicy brownie, which made a yummy snack on the road. We ordered takeout and ate at a nearby dog park. The place itself also had a very cute, casual, communal feel. Would definitely go back!
This is MUST visit!! The food is the REAL deal, fresh, organic, locally sourced! So good! You will not be disappointed, you will want to come back! Do yourself a favor, eat here! I’m a carnivore but if I could eat here all the time, I’d be a vegetarian
