One of the best coffee shops in Tucson, very friend and knowledgeable staff as well! Support local business!
The gentleman who helped me made my day! He was very knowledgeable and excited about what he was selling to the community. Filthy Pirate offers apparel, mugs, tumblers, seasonings with funny names, pre made cold brew, k cup options, local honey, and so much more. I’m so excited to level up my coffee experience and Sunday breakfast with the family! Shop local guys! You won’t regret it. I’ll never buy coffee anywhere else. So far the cold brew is amazing without cream or sugar!
Excited to try all the flavors we picked up. Great help from the owner.
This is not a sit down or order out coffee shop! They do, however, offer a really great selection of small batch roasted coffees and teas! Worth a look for sure.
Staff always friendly and informative. I have a sensitive stomach and this low acidic coffee never bothers me compared to other brands I've tried. The cold brew is excellent, especially during the summer. Highly recommend trying it.
Dan & Cathy have brought low acidic coffee to NW Tucson and beyond. You can shop the 20 plus flavor or styles of bagged coffee. Also tea products. And plenty of swag (t-shirts & hats) to support this local coffee roasters to your friends & family. You can also go online and have their fresh product mailed directly to your home. Whole bean or grind...give them a try. You won't regret it! I guarantee it!
A very welcoming store, amazing products, fantastic variety, extremely flavorful coffee. Overall an amazing family run shop. Will not drink any other coffee after having this brand
Was down visiting from Canada and always looking for something new. Filthy Pirate Coffee is, in my opinion, better than that other large commercial LEO/MIL coffee company, by far! ManOWar is my new fave coffee. The mugs in the product shots look amazing. Want one, need one, please make more and start shipping!
Dan & Kathy, the owners are great people. The coffee is delicious and low acidic. It has cured my acid reflux I normally get with regular coffee. Over 20 styles of coffee and they also have tea and just recently started a partnership with a seasoning company. For us older folks who have many medical issues, a low acid coffee is a blessing. Please go by and sample their coffee roasts. You won't be sorry, I guarantee it!
Awesome coffee! Never bitter and does not bother my stomach. Excellent taste.
Great small spot for specialty coffee! The owner is very personable and helpful on your specific tastes and likes! Highly recommend!!!
I'm lazy. I like coffee. Bought a superautomatic espresso machine and all of a sudden my wife and son were interested in drinking coffee. I'd been French pressing, which is still my favorite, but again, I'm lazy. So after trying some of the beans I'd been putting in our machine my wife was experiencing the bubble guts. Can't have that. I looked around the internets and all over T-town when I literally stumbled across Filthy Pirate. Listen, I like my coffee so dark it's nearly chewy. It's super hard to find a full flavored dark roast with low acidity that I can enjoy black and she can doctor with her syrups and creams. Enter Dark Bite and Shipwreck. Fack me runnin'. I took one sip of the Shipwreck and knew the chickens had come home to roost. The wifey prefers the Dark Bite and I prefer the Shipwreck so we tend to go back and forth. Listen, when I say I like coffee I mean I really like coffee. I was shopping 90+ point coffees all over the map from Hula Daddy, Stumptown, PT's, Mostra, Buon, Bird Rock, Modcup, Durango, Kakalove and my go to had been Mostra. I have to tell you, these roasters have many wonderful coffees but none of them gave me the depth I craved. Filthy Pirate absolutely competes with the top 5% of coffee roasters in the world. But don't take my word for it, go enjoy a cup.
I used to only buy the Starbucks coffee to make at home but when I stopped by to check out this local shop and tried their smooth, rich and low acidic flavorful coffee - now Its the only coffee I buy! I love trying all the flavors and my staple fav is the Italian roast. The logo and stickers are so creative too. I will be buying a bunch of the sample sizes for Christmas gifts this year.
This place has the best coffee around. We have been buying from FP for a while. Even though we have moved, we still order from them. Great products and amazing customer service. These people give back - support local! Our favorite is the Mutiny and Shipwrecked.
This is place to get your roasted coffee
The smell right when you walk in the store was a giver that Filthy Pirate was going to be exceptional! The customer service is top notch. Dan really catered to my coffee preferences and suggested the perfect roasts. Not only do I love the coffee , I also love that this place is locally owned. Stop by and be wowed by all of what Filthy Pirate has to offer.
What a great experience. Wonderfully awesome place. And it's VETERAN owned and operated!!!!💖💖💖💖
This coffee is amazing. No bitter taste. Very smooth. Try it you'll love it.
I gave in and decided to give Filthy Pirate Coffee a try and I am super pleased with the taste of the Killamel k-cups. This brand of coffee tastes so different from other brands. It’s super smooth and I’d say the Killamel is semi sweet but not overly sweet. But, rich in the caramel flavor. I am a caramel lover so this is up my alley. Next, I plan on trying the vanilla flavor. The Killamel flavor k-cup, with oat milk, and over ice is the perfect way to start my day. I love that this company supports the military, law enforcement, and special needs.
Background: With the rising prices of Green Beans and Shipping cost. I started looking for a local roaster to support for getting my Espresso beans. I run though 5lbs per months and I am already pushing most espresso past its peak; threading a needle by doing that. So, going to 2lbs and supporting a local roaster had great appeal. The Good: These guys are definitely trying and that is pretty cool. They are generally knowledgeable, really engaging and readily share info. They are very responsive and just super nice. Things to be aware of: The Espresso blend off gases 4-7 days before hitting the shelf. So, if you have high espresso standards you easily and more than likely, will be bumping into the beans peak if you are lucky to get it right when it hits the shelf. I picked up a 2lbs bag of their Espresso blend. After opening the bag, the aroma was not a welcoming rich, warm coffee aroma. It was flat, musty and dirty. That could be the nature of the blend and roast. From first grind, it seemed it was going to be old and stale. The grind was very dry with no moisture or oil to help the grains stick or compress together. We did not try a wide range of grind sizes, temp ranges or brew times when trying to pulls shots to dial it into its best because early indications from aroma and grind were it's not going to be good. We did try several general starting ranges of grams in/out, temp range and brew time for pulling shots. Because of the dryness. It was really difficult to get a good starting puck. Most pulls just blasted through the puck resulting in a watery under-brewed shot with a light flat crema and no signs of rich flavorful oils anywhere. Shots were flat, watery, bitter and not consumable. We tried to make the most of it and use it for milk drinks. In a Cortado a good silky frothed whole milk will mask some of the espressos flavor an allow you to get your caffeine but you might not really enjoy the consumption. The #1 rule of even mediocre coffee beans is
