We stayed here for our 34th Anniversary in May. We Booked Cabin #9 "Hidden Garden Log Cabin". It is not "Hidden Garden Log Cabin", it is #9 "Mary's Giant Skipper". Not as advertised. (Very Small. Should have been Mary's Giant Slipper".) The cieling fan was on high. The pull string to slow it down or turn it off was broken. When you turned the light switch on the fan came on running on high. Also it only had 1 light bulb that worked. One socket was missing a bulb and the third one was burnt out. (Never mind the lows were mid 40's and the highs were upper 70's). Would have been great to just turn it on low during the day. (Staff did not fix it.) We did have good hot water. 200 deg+. If you didn't pay attention turning the sink or shower on, you would get burnt. (Happened a couple times.)The shower head sort of worked. It had so much water pressure it would take your skin off. Also the shower is VERY small. (No where to go to bend over if you dropped something. You had to step out to pick it up.) The Cast Iron stove in the corner for heat did not work. It is gas. The gas was turned off and the unit was unplugged. (Was told they were turned off because Winter Season was done. Would have been nice to know. We were provided a space heater. (OH BOY HOW ROMANTIC.) The only On Site Dinning was a small market store. They did not even have a Microwave to heat anything up. The Cabin did not even have a Microwave to heat anything. We had some left overs from one of the Really Nice Restaurants in the area and had to throw them away due to not being able to reheat anything. (The girl up front said she would have let us in one of the other Cabins to use a microwave, but the cabins were all rented.) (There was only 4 cabins with people while we were there. The rest of the cabins didn't fill up until we were leaving.) The Outer Door Grill looked like it would catch fire. Each cabin had their own. It was old and all of the defusers for the grease drippings were missing. (We were
Sad! You want $50/hour to park on a dirt strip to walk to the free Oak Creek on memorial weekend. Please value people over profit. Keep your parking spaces, I will not be stopping here anymore.
This is my must visit place in Sedona! I have not had a chance to stay in their cabins, but I regularly visit their coffee shop! They have a front patio, and it is really enjoyable spending time there! If you are not fan of coffee, they have a store with snacks and beverages. I' ve uploaded the photo of the view from their patio :) The West Gork trail is a stone throw from here!
We loved our cabin it was super cute and beautiful grounds. Easy entry, and we enjoyed our stay. It was so peaceful and relaxing. A few things to be improved on. We were really looking forward to all the things Don Hoels had to offer especially the market/cafe. We were there 4 nights (th-mon) and I believe it was open once….and not until 11am. By that time we weren’t even interested in coffee anymore and gone for the day to enjoy Sedona. We didn’t have a coffee machine for the first morning and the cafe wasnt open so we had to drive into town for coffee but they dropped one off right away once we got a hold of them, so that was nice. There was no one in the “lobby” the entire time we were there so communication was tough, we played some phone tag but ultimately it was fine, our needs were met. We wanted to add another night to our stay, and they were very accommodating to let us stay in our same cabin and adjusted the rate a bit for us. We really appreciated that. The play ground was great to have, but it definitely needed to be cleaned up. There was quite a bit of trash everywhere. The trash cans either seemed to fill up quick or they weren’t emptied often enough. They definitely should be emptied more often for a few reasons: we had to go all around the grounds to find a trash can to dump our trash from our cabin because most of them were full, (no dumpster) and critters also got to them so there was rotting garbage all over the common area. Kinda a bummer no one was there to clean it up. It was there the whole time we were there. Overall we had a good time, our cabin was great, the person we were talking to over the phone was helpful, but there were a few things that would have made it a lot better like being able to talk to someone in person, have the cafe open that we were expecting & thought we were paying for (otherwise we were originally going to book another place for cheaper but we liked what don hauls had to offer) I’d recommend it for sure, but may
Looks like the store has gone downhill. Store had only a fraction of the selection it used to and coffee house was closed. Not sure about cabins though. Hopefully it's just being restored.
Cool little restaurant good sandwiches and drinks. River across the street.
The room was so clean, fresh white sheets, so cozy and quiet. We wanted to do a Sedona vacation to get away from technology and reconnect with Mother Nature and this cabin was everything. You can see the stars so bright at night, the sounds of the private creek near by, the wilderness. It was just amazing and the staff were so wonderful and friendly. Tammy let me create some content for my tiktok channel and showed us some of the other larger cabins for our next trip. It was Serenity. The staff became like family just after a few days we talked and talked and we’re still in contact because they just are so loving. Thank you Tammy for making our stay so beautiful and helping us figure out our hiking schedule ☺️😇
Stopped in to use the facilities and pick up some munchies for the road. Friendly staff and nice facilities.
Thank you guys for everything. I loved the hospitality. I would definitely go back.
🛑🛑🛑🛑This rating is for the cafe and grocery store only. I am not going to give you enough details to bother cuz they don't give you enough details to bother anyway. Nobody knows anything about the area that they work in and probably live in. You don't have any food here, the selection is terrible. It wouldn't be that difficult to stock this grocery cafe thing a little bit better with some options, there's nothing else for you to do here but hang out You're out in the woods. Every time I come out this way and I stop at this place I have to remind myself... Why are you stopping at this place It is worthless it offers you nothing except some terrible sizes and options at ridiculous prices ... Don't stop here ever again. You can wait 15 minutes till you get to a real store! 🛑🛑🛑
Stopped here for a coffee on our way out of Sedona. awesome views of Oak Creek to enjoy while sipping coffee by the tables. Tammy was very nice. We will definitely be coming back
Stopped and got coffee on the way north to Antelope Canyon, it was pretty good, however the coffee was better at the Indian Gardens coffee shop. Cool rare and unique drinks are found here though! Love it in general.
We did not have the pleasure of staying here, but stopped for coffee on the way back to the flagstaff airport. The woman who made our coffee was incredibly kind and welcoming. At one point two guests entered the store and based off the interaction, it seems like they really try to ensure their guests fee happy and at home, Vs just staying at a hotel. Just outside is a lovely view of the creek. If my husband and I are able to come back to the area one day, we would love to stay here.
Absolutely CRAZY. If considering this place as viable lodging option, do yourself a favor and reconsider, as this place is fully capable of offering travelers a uniquely awful and unprofessional experience. Long story short, we booked a cabin at Don Hoel's after another AirBNB cancelled on us 15 minutes prior to check-in during the busiest weekend in Sedona. We were thrilled to have found anything with availability and, quite frankly, would have been satisfied with just about anything in Sedona at that point. Instructions indicated that we should check-in before 7:00PM at the office; however, the office was closed when we arrived at around 6:45pm. We did our best to locate our cabin in the dark but, upon locating it, found that there was trash and food strewn about the front porch. The lights were on inside the cabin and we noticed that it was in a state of disarray - pillows tossed about the room, trash all over the floor, dining chairs scattered throughout the living area. Clearly, this room had not been touched since the last guests checked out. We called the telephone number provided and a woman (who claimed to work for an afterhours answering service) answered. We explained the situation and were told "that room should have never been available to book as it has not been cleaned." The problem? It WAS available to book and it WAS booked, we were charged, and now it's 7PM and we have nowhere to stay. Our mid-sixties hiking weekend in Sedona ended up seeing us in a motel in 18-degree Flagstaff instead. I understand that mistakes happen, but the absolute CRAZY part came when I decided to leave a review describing our experience. Don Hoel's took no ownership of their mistake and, in their response, touted their willingness to help "educate us" as to how this works. To be clear, my review was not positive (as well it should not have been), but it was honest and forthright. This process turned into a public exchange via "edits" where I disclosed more d
This place is a total hidden gem in a beautiful surrounding! What makes the cafe such a special place is Tammy, who runs the cafe. She is such a warm, kind hearted and fun person! The food and coffee was delicious and spending a few minutes chatting with Tammy was really wonderful. HIGHLY recommend stopping in!
Stopped here to get a coffee. They had no prices in the board. My girlfriend got a dirty chai latte and I watched the rude woman behind the counter use a double ended spout that poured half the espresso shot right now the drain. The coffee was wateree down, flavorless and cost $8.15!!!! Nearly $10 for one of the worst cups of tea/coffee we've ever had. She didn't even put the chai in and on top of it was the kind of rude where she interrupts you to say something nice sounding with a trash undertone. Don't stop here
Tammy was an absolute delight and was very accommodating. No internet or TV was exactly the type of unwinding my SO and I needed. Was very peaceful and the cabin had everything needed. We will definitely be back!
My boyfriend and I stayed here to get away from the busy SoCal life and, honestly, it was so nice. Tammy was amazing and such a sweetheart over the phone and was pretty clear on how to check in and everything if you listen to her and can follow directions. We were across the street from the creek, in a cabin in the middle of the forest. There’s no Wi-Fi and no tv which was a little unsettling at first, because after a day out exploring the wilderness, I was hoping to be able to watch a dvd or tv to relax before bed but it was kind of calming to unplug. We were able to enjoy each others company. My boyfriend did have one bar on his phone so we were able to watch Hells Kitchen but we stayed off our phone 98% of the time. Our cabin had a kitchen and a grill, so we were able to run to safeway and get some food for the time that we were there. Our oven wasn’t working and smelled like gas when we turned it on the first day and that sucked but we improvised using the grill outside. It was so peaceful and quiet, and even though the weather was in the 20s at night, the cabin heated up really nicely with the heater. The only thing I can really complain about would probably be the bed. The pillows were definitely flat from use, the mattress wasn’t comfy and we think maybe one of the guests before us broke the bed…which couples doing their thang is kind of a given but a broken bed sucks for the next guests that stay there…overall, a wonderful stay though!
I was wrong! I honked at a lady worker there to get her attention. I needed to know where to park. She got offended and I immediately got out of my car to apologize. She was very angry with me and let me know this. I understand this. She told my family that they were welcomed to stay, but I was not. I understand this. I was rude and not a gentleman by honking. I was wrong. PS: I work at a large winery and I understand how important customer service is. Our family that was interested in eating and drinking left with only a very bad taste in our mouth.
My cabin was acute little cabin no TV nor did I get any service so if you're looking for a legit escape from reality this is the cabin to do it it's right in the heart of Oak Creek river and it was beautiful they even have a part of the creek designated only for people staying at the cabins the playground area looks like it was under construction and the service was good they had complimentary breakfast but not any hot foods my only thing was I needed help with the heater and maintenance never showed but luckily I figured it out so it ended up being fine the location is almost in the middle of nowhere so it is a drive to get to other things around Sedona so definitely make sure you have the gas that you need and the food that you need because doordash doesn't even deliver that far out I'm definitely going to plan to stay again it was extremely beautiful area to book a cabin
