Bar is fun. Speakeasy upstairs is cool, will let you drink and pass out as long as you aren't a problematic drunk. Good beer selection. Becoming a gay hangout. Not sure when that happened. I used to go all the time and chat with the lady bartender. She no longer works there. Sad. Was like the friendliest and most knowledgeable about Phoenix bar scene. Now it's all guy bartenders and the crowd is eager gay men with lots of male presenting women. Not a problem. Still a good drink selection and the music makes the outdoor patio a great second stop on the light rail pub crawl.

We visited the Ghost Ship part of The Grand. It's okay, you pay $20 for two coins that you then use to order drinks. The place itself is cool but the drinks were a bit too sweet and hard to put down. Food was the same way. Decor and ambiance was unique though.

Miss the old Grand, where you could get a fantastic espresso and work and meet up with people. The old business model had room for a far greater spectrum of customers, this new Grand is narrow and lacks community. It’s too bad.

Would give 5 stars, if they didn't close early ( 10 pm instead of their normal midnight - 2 am), and the bathroom weren't sketchy af Visited March 16 at around 8:30 - 9 pm, for the Ghost Ship. Excellent drink, and our waitress was amazing 10/10. She absolutely went above and beyond.

If you like a nice atmosphere of people and looks, this place is alright. Major downside is the bar almost always made the drinks badly, the taste was un appetizing and was not fun to have. The staff of very short tempered and rude. It's like they are just always in a hurry. Also if you want to get in free and get a couple rounds of straight liquor free, dress undressed and the managers will come crawling.

The grand was pretty cool. We were going to go to the place next door but the line was ridiculous so we entered here. It had a good vibe, great music & not too crowded. Large outside area as well. Cool boat theme and decorations. Inside you can also get access to another room, you pay for some tokens/coins which you can use to buy drinks and food. It's a bit more chill but pretty cool. The drinks are great there!

Really dumb and unoriginal name. A quick google search would show that calling a night club ghost ship is super insensitive.

I visited this bar with high hopes based on the unique pirate-themed decor, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Firstly, the bartender over-poured the alcohol in my drink, making it nearly undrinkable. It tasted like straight whiskey in a massive glass, which was not what I was expecting or hoping for. Over-pouring alcohol in drinks is not only unappetizing, but also irresponsible and potentially dangerous. In addition, the bar had a strange smell that was off-putting. It didn't add to the atmosphere in a positive way at all. To top it off, some of the staff members were a bit rude, which made the overall experience unpleasant. Although the ambiance was definitely a unique and interesting aspect of the bar, the poor quality of the drinks and rude staff made for a disappointing experience. I won't be returning anytime soon.

Food, drink, and ambiance were good but night was almost ruined by a man hiding in the women's bathroom and accosting ladies when they walked in alone. Management did nothing about the guy when told.

The Grand has made all sorts of updates over the past few years! Still love going here, one of my regular bars. The bartenders are great, the atmosphere is chill. They aren't open all day anymore and no more coffee, but they have DJs on the regular, and Ghost Ship is a cool pirate ship themed bar inside. The cocktails could be a little better, but if you stick with basic mixed drinks or beer, you're good to go. Pretty reasonably priced for the location too.

There are two areas, one is "a more sophisticated speak easy" called Sanctum (per description by hostess). We did not go in that area. We went to the second area called the Ghost ship, described by the host as "more pirates of the Caribbean". The lighting, decor, and vibe was VERY consistent with that description. We really enjoyed the atmosphere. However, the food and drinks were not good. Neither of us enjoyed our meal or drink (tried three). Overall, fun but disappointing. ☹️

This review is for the ghost ship bar. The ambiance is amazing, and a great experience. However I'm completely dumbfounded by why the drinks are so bad, it would take the owners/bar managers 1 hour to fix the menu. You know your menu is bad when the waiters have to warn you about half the choices tasting bad. And the waiters are right! The drinks taste really weird, their best drinks are decent at best, and on average the drinks taste bad and unbalanced. I would come here very often if they could just taste their menu and make the much needed fixes. Hint: Don't put a ton of absinthe in every single drink. Balance your drinks with fresh citrus. Clean whatever is giving the drinks a weird taste.

The vibe was super cool at Ghost Ship. You pay $20.00 per person before you walk in and get two gold coins in exchange to use for drinks. I was not impressed with their selection and quality of cocktails. The drinks were very syrupy, and the one with banana tastes like soap. They really need to work on this. When paying between $14.00 and $18.00 per drink, I expect handcrafted cocktails with fun and creative presentations. The drinks really had no wow factor. Hopefully, as time goes on, it gets better.

Went here for cocktails and appetizers and they ended getting our order wrong and brought us pizza instead of garlic knots. Bartender and chef were very apologetic and offered to bring out the knots but we were fine with the pizza, it was really good and hit the spot. They gave us drinks on the house for the mistake. Awesome bar, excellent service, pizza and cocktails were great! Thank you!

Disappointed that this place is no longer 24 hours and more caters to the late party crowd. Use to be a great place for all students to pull nighters

Great place to chill and work. Outlets are a little competitive at peak hours so prepare accordingly. Bar is normal price. Cocktails available.
