Chowder: subtle the way I like. Not thick, chunky or large. I could taste the cream, the rare crab, the perfect potatoes. Not spiced or peppered: simple. 3 small thick slices of great sourdough baguette thoroughly toasted and buttered but not drenched (every crumb soaked but barely buttered fingers). Marina view.

Recently visited Ketchikan and had dinner as well as breakfast here. The food and service were excellent at both times! The evening visit had a really fun band and lively atmosphere. I got the Pork Belly Roll with sweet potato fries - great balance of flavors and high quality ingredients! Sunlight filled the space for our morning visit and we had a more relaxed experience. Excellent mimosas and coffee (my latte features a dragon!) and we loved our food - Cathead Biscuits and Gravy and Smoked Salmon and Eggs.

Between the food, the service, and the oceanfront view, it was a perfect meal. I got the spicy salmon bowl and it was absolutely divine.

End of the season...literally the last week! Cruise ship(s) purge a multitude passengers on this picturesque little town. Somehow, we walked into New York Cafe and were seated immediately. The cue formed out the door after us. Crisp, efficient service of excellent food. Not the time to try to chat up our server or ask about local sites to see. We understand as we too are in the biz.

If it's raining or cold and you're near Creek Street, you can always visit the New York Cafe to find refuge or something to eat. At Ketchikan. At this lovely place, you can order a plate of food or a coffee with a cheesecake as we did after a rainy day. I recommend that you try the lavender cheesecake!

Zero personality towards tourist - head over heals service for the locals…. Clearly does not appreciate the tourist industry is their bread and butter… very cold… food was average but can’t enjoy the meal with such cold personalities & welcoming hospitality. In the mist of COVID you would think they would treat visitors in a much more welcoming way - couldn’t get a hello or an introduction - however, overall many establishments in Ketchikan are not very welcoming but expect to be paid and tipped…. apparently the standard of hospitality I’ve experienced in Virginia Beach and other tourist dominant areas has not reached Ketchikan - without tourist Ketchikan will sink further into economic oblivion… with the cruise industry discussions of passing by Ketchikan - you’d think they would cater more to the tourist industry - a smile and a hello goes a long way….
