So enjoyed all the wonderful food and the imaginative and creative ambience-such attention to detail! We were there for brunch with our pup on the inviting screen porch. A few of our fave dishes were the spicy southern hot corn, the beautiful heart shaped biscuits with blueberry compote, hash brown casserole and the meatloaf pie. Honestly, everything we had was fab and can’t wait to try other items next time too! The service was so friendly and attentive-our server was Danielle and she was great-in fact, all the staff and the kind owners, Roger and Pam were all-stars! 🌟 I even had to bring home some of the adorable treats in the gift shop to commemorate our outing! Don’t miss this lil Mentone gem-hop to it!🐇
This was definitely an amazing place to eat a wonderful meal. They were so nice and helpful.
The decorations are adorable I got shrimp and grits Shrimp was fresh but they were tough. The grits didn't have cheese and grits were sweet? She said it was the pepper jelly? and there was a watery sauce around the grits. I should have ordered something else. Husband order eggs Benedict and don't know what meat they used. But just ok.
What can I say about this Unique, Eclectic place that is a must to stop at anytime you are close. We were staying nearby and decided to pull in on a whim to experience this “Wonderland”. The meatloaf pie was an interesting take on meatloaf but was absolutely a win! The BLT on a biscuit was something I would have never thought of but will do so in the future. The staff was friendly, helpful and very attentive and very quick to meet your requests. As we ate you could hear all the laughs and conversation taking place in this older home converted to a restaurant and you couldn’t help but to think of these walls could talk about everything they have heard over the years, what would they say? To me that just fits in perfectly with Alice in Wonderland. Put the Hatter Cafe on your must do list. Well done!
The Hatter is adorable. I walked in and thought it was just so cute. Everything is about "tea time" or "Alice In Wonderland" in their decorations. I didn't mind this at all since that is my favorite story. The food was hard to pick from. I had the BLT Biscuits with a side of Mac and Cheese. I wasn't sure about the spinach on the sandwich but it was yummy. My mother had the Chicken salad on HOMEMADE Raisin Bread. We got our desserts to go. Two and a half hours later she let me know how YUMMY her peach cobbler was. I told her I'd have to ask the sink how my Ooey Gooey Chocolate Cake was (I drop it all in the sink 😥. We will be back and enjoy another day there. Thank you.
We were super excited to have a girls brunch to celebrate two birthdays. The food was good, but the experience was not that of the other reviews we had read prior to attending. We drove an hour to get here. The staff was pretty cut and dry. Here is your menu. Didn't ask us any questions or offer any information on the menu about the food or tea. They never ask, " Have you been here before?, Are you celebrating anything special, " etc. It was pretty obvious that we were confused especially when we didn't realize we all order tea pots of tea thinking we were getting a cup of tea. One of the ladies in our group of five didn't even get her waffles until the three others that also had the waffles had almost finished their food. We were so excited to enjoy a lovely brunch and atmosphere, but it was a very dull, unpersonable experience.
Food was great, decor was even better. This is a must visit if you’re in Mentone.
a beautiful little place. the food was great, the tea selection was great, the tea pots are adorable, & the service was also great!!
I had so much fun at Gatsby night! I absolutely love the food. I will go back as often as possible. Even without Gatsby night the place is decorated so adorable with great imagination. You can tell the owner put her all into it.
The food was excellent! I had the French toast and found out that the bread is made in house. The decor and atmosphere were perfect. We had excellent service and all employees were friendly.
Such an amazing and unique place to eat. We absolutely loved the vibe inside and the food was top notch as well. This is a place you gotta go to if you're close. We had breakfast and it was fantastic.
I love the Hatter Cafe and the people who keep it running!
The hour and a half wait outweighed the food. The food was good and we loved the atmosphere and the service, but for whatever reason it took about an hour to get our food. A bit long for us.
After our visit today, I am not sure how this place had a 4.8 star rating. This place seems to suffer from poor management. We went in for a late breakfast around 10:30. Didn't seem overly busy but we had about a 20 minute wait before being called and seated. Wait for the food was closer to an hour. Service was slow but decent from our waitress. Food was overpriced. I ordered french toast with bacon and my wife ordered waffles and bacon. With coffees, this came out to be well over $30. My French toast was cold and my wife's waffles were cold. No butter or syrup was served with either and had to ask for syrup which was also cold. I had to wait 10-15 minutes at the front to pay. My ticket was passed off to 3 different people and lost in the process before I finally was able to pay. It blows my mind when I have to make an effort to pay at a restaurant. Always makes me wonder if I should put the effort in if Noone wants to take payment. Several couples and families left before getting food due to poor service. Would not recommend at all. Huge disappointment.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐞 in 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙤𝙣𝙚 is definitely a favorite among our retreat guests, and for good reason. The Hatter has been mentioned in many of our own 5-star reviews at 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒔…also for good reason! Owners, Roger and Pam, are diligent and committed to provide each dining guest a peaceful experience, and this is the reason 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒔 highly recommends them to our own retreat guests for a destination dining experience that will become a favorite memory at 𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙢𝙖. Each breakfast and lunch entree is very reasonably priced, and from the moment you step inside, you’ll understand why Roger and Pam chose the theme of this whimsical dining destination. When you step inside 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐟𝐞, you truly step through the looking glass into a happy place that feels welcoming like Grandma’s house, and a lot like a fairytale land. So whether you stay in a cottage or treehouse with 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒇𝒖𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒔 or with another great host on the mountain (there are many), be sure to experience the restaurant loved by so many who visit the amazing Lookout Mountain Alabama!
This place is a unique experience, I liked the themed decor and diverse hot tea menu. The portions were delicate and came on cute dishes. The breakfast casserole was herby and delicious. The challah french toast was too eggy for my taste, but still pretty good.
Highlight of our anniversary weekend. Service was great. Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. Very unique and so much to look at inside. Will be back.
We made reservations for tea at The Hatter while on our vacation in Mentone. The cafe itself is delightful - decorated with tea cup chandeliers and details everywhere. Our tea service was good and the food was DELICIOUS. In fact, we have tea everywhere we go, but the food here is some of the best I have had. If the tea service was this delicious, I can only imagine their lunch menu is equally good.
A friend, Dyana & I ate lunch here today. The food was awesome & Roger & Pamela Walls along with their staff were so nice & friendly. The Cafe is absolutely beautiful ❤️ I certainly plan to visit again.
Absolutely amazing and unique little place. We were seated fast, ordered and had our food in a timely manner. The chef comes out and speaks to everyone, very personable. Literally moved to the top of my list as far as best experience.
