The atmosphere in this coffee shop keeps me coming back. I always feel like I’m transported to a cabin in the mountains when I go to Thou Mayest.
Love this coffee...love this company's ethics! I first tried this coffee in a little shop in Bucks County PA and enjoyed it so much that I Googled them and placed an order. It took a minute to receive the package but I was kept apprised of its progress through emails and given a tracking number. I tried 2 different brews, beans, and loved one of them as much as my first experience. The other one not so much, so I sent an email to the company stating that I thought maybe it had been overly roasted, maybe just a bad batch. I received a reply very quickly and long story short they sent me a new bag of coffee to replace the one that I was unhappy with. It arrived today and I couldn't be happier! I personally love the bold flavor so Super Ego and Boldly Go are my favorites! Thanks Thou Mayest!
Some of the best coffee I have had. The flavor of the coffee alone is amazing because I know my aromas and taste descriptors. The staff are really great people. I love ordering from here
I live out of state, but wanted to send a gift to my sister in the area and I knew she liked this coffee shop. Bo went above and beyond in his customer service, answering my questions and doing more than I asked for! I can't wait to try the place out in person the next time I'm in the area!
Their coffee is always amazing but it was made even better with the incredible weather and the open garage doors. This is a small but hip spot worth a visit if you are in the crossroads.
I wasn't able to actually make an inquiry or a purchase at the store because of the hour I passed through. I can say though that the location is easy to see from the main road and is very accessible. Parking seemed to be adequate for the size of building and also was well situated to the building. I'll be curious to price the products as some point.
We visited this place Saturday evening (stopped in around 7:40 pm and they close at 8) and were greeted by a very grumpy, unenthused barista. He did not even give us eye contact or say hello. I understand we came in late but it's not like we stopped in at 7:59 pm... Anyways, I had hoped the coffee would make up for his attitude but wasn't very impressed with my dirty chai latte either, as it was not very hot and I couldn't taste much of the chai. I'll skip this place next time I'm in the area. Edit: just saw the response from the owner. And we really appreciate the clarification. I've worked in customer service many years and have total understanding when things like that happen! All is well and forgiven! We will certainly be back to give it another try.
I hung out here for about two hours to do homework. They made me an amazing Oat Milk Vanilla Matcha Latte...so good!! It's such a cool place to chill with good music and a great atmosphere. Would recommend!
Not sure what else to add to Douglas Alexander's review. Sitting here on a snowy, dreary Wednesday and this place is warming me like the comfort of crackling fire in a giant hearth . Chill is not a part of my working vocab, but I have to make an exception today. This place has chill radiating through the brick, rising up from the wood, and pouring in through the glass. Attention to detail manifests itself with perfect tiny spoons and the best presentation of espresso + soda chaser I've seen anywhere. (Sorry, Seattle.) Keep up the good work, folks. I look forward to future trips to KC for this place alone.
One of the coolest coffee shops in KC! Great coffee but even better vibes! Very artistic atmosphere with an entertaining decor!
This place is pretty awesome. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the coffee :) man, its good coffee. The baked goods were tasty too.
Very unique signature coffee drinks and a relaxing ambiance. I really liked the heavy wood design. Lots of seating available. Pictures show recreational macha latte and the espresso tonic. Thou Mayest bought out Quay. Though are several signs and reminders this used to be Quay coffee, it is now owed by Thou Mayest.
This place is now called Thee Outpost. And I was confused when I was looking for it’s old name, Thou Mayest. The cafe is decorated friendly for people to study and use their computers to work. They also have a comfy sofa area. One barista was friendly to greet me while she was still talking to another customer, but the other barista who took my order seemed to have a bad day. Anyways, she still completed my order. Talking about the coffee, I was a bit disappointed since this cafe has same scores as The Roasterie and slightly higher scores than the Quay cafe On Google. It’s still a good choice if you live nearby or just passing by. But it’s not really worth a visit if you just to want to try this place out.
Heard the owner on a local podcast and decided check on their business. Went to the Outpost to buy one of their seasonal blends I saw on the Gram. I recieved a token for a free espresso or drip coffee with my purchase. Barista whipped up an outstanding Americano for me. At his suggestion, a decaf cause it was late in the day. I will definitely return.
I've always thought it a strange idea to order cereal in a restaurant (or coffee shop), but was almost tempted here. At the very least, I found the display of boxes to be an interesting aesthetic draw, inasmuch as food packaging constitutes pop art, and in a way I've never paid much attention to when strolling the grocery aisle. Cereal bar aside, this is a great coffee shop. Delicious brew, plenty of seating, good wifi, comfortable vibe, friendly service, etc. I only had time for one coffee shop visit on this quick pass through KC, and I'm glad this was the one I choose (with help from google, of course).
Love the new place. The build-out and aesthetics inside is gorgeous and the staff is very welcoming, unlike a lot of the local independent coffee shops. The coffee being fantastic is just an added bonus
Stopped by on my way out from Kansas City and it was worth the trip. We tried two of the three drip coffees available and they did not disappoint. The one my colleague ordered (Ethiopian) was better than mine (Brazilian) as it had more interesting flavor. Mine was a good, solid coffee was nothing too unique. There were two baristas working when we arrived and they were both very cool. Very friendly and made us feel right at home. I would recommend a visit not only for the coffee, but also for the stellar service. It apparently turns into a bar at night so that could be an interesting visit as well.
An anchor of an ascendant neighborhood. Closest thing that exists to a mountain lodge in downtown Kansas City. Although they are taking a short hiatus, I know they will be back and better than ever in 2019. An amazing cup of coffee that is often accompanied by a bright smile for your soul.
Thou Mayest is a very cozy and cute coffee shop! A friend and I came here for the first time and loved it! They have a rustic theme decor and the staff are so friendly and kind. Their baked goods change either daily or weekly I think. We tried the chai cupcakes, they were so good! I had a smore latte and my friend had the hazelnut latte! Both were absolutely delicious! Would definitely come here again. I think they're relocating the store so we'll be back when the new place opens up!
Very comfy, nice atmosphere, good coffee/beverages, love that area of town, but I don't necessarily love paying the cost of a small box of cereal for a bowl. I don't go to coffee shops to save money, though, so I still highly recommend.
