Unusually head over to this place when walking my dog through the heritage trail. I get matcha from here mostly. The space is welcoming, has plenty of seating both inside the coffee shop, inside the building it's connected to, and outdoors.
The whole area is dog friendly and they usually have a water bowl for your fur baby to drink from. They even gave me a biscuit to give to my pups.
I chatted up the baristas (I got the sense maybe one of them was the manager/owner? not sure) and they were very helpful in answering my questions about the building and its history.

Whoever came up with the saying “too good to be true” obviously did not have De Fer Coffee in their life. The vibe is allllways on point from decor to music to people. I’d want to hang out there anyway, even if they didn’t have the hands down BEST breakfast sandwiches and smoothies...which they do. Food is all sourced locally which we love, and menu items are kept current and unique but like not in a weird way, just in a cool way. Ohhh and their coffe?! Really cannot get any better. Always full to the brim and full of flavor. One time, I was accidentally charged too much for an item, so Matt gave me the full price in cash when I picked it up. I would’ve paid more for it anyway!

Nice little shop with friendly service. Came in and got a latte and black coffee right away. Both turned out good. Would return.

So glad De Fer opened this location at the highline! It’s one of my favorite coffee and tea places in the city and this new location is a great atmosphere! Their items are always great quality and the people who work here are the reason I keep coming back! Would highly recommend! ☺️

First, I ordered a Flat White which on the menu is listed as $3.00. I gave her a $5. I received a dollar change. Hmmmmm....my math says this is not correct. $3.21 should have been correct cost. Now there is the size. It was a 3.5 inch cup. I suppose that could be a small. Then I take the lid off and the coffee is an inch and a quarter from the top. Finally the taste test. Meh to say the least. I was hoping for so much more. Great location with a great atmosphere to sit inside or out to sip your drink. I will not be back and I will be vocal to those on the south side to not give it a chance. Very disappointing.

Best espresso I've had in the city: smooth, creamy, balanced. Amazing flavors for lattés (including lavender and vanilla rose... !!), but the classics are where this café excels. Real cortados, macchiatos, and flat whites with perfect milk texture and options like oat milk (!!!). So happy this beautiful location is available and easy to get to from the south side and the bike trail :)

I've had great coffee, pleasant conversation, and genuine customer service each time I have been at De Fer. The Highline location offers great views of our Steel City. Good vibes all around.

Seriously love the new location, same great service and incredible espresso drinks as the original location but with beautiful city views and tons of outdoor seating. Such a great place full of friendly people. Free parking is a bonus too.

I'm a big fan fan of this place! Great drinks and atmosphere. Like that they've got a partnership with OM yoga. Good stuff.

An absolute VIBE. the awesome staff, the best coffee in the city (which they roast their own beans), and the location makes this one of the coolest spots in town. Staff is so helpful to talk through the different menu options and cater to whatever caffeine you’re feeling for the day. Stop reading this and RUN DONT WALK to de Fer !!!!!!!!!!!
