An amazing new coffee spot in Akron. Owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Place is a bit difficult to find but a great inside atmosphere. Currently a small coffee menu with a few food options but coffee was amazing and owner really seemed to care and take pride in the work

Phenomenal. Staff are all super friendly and really know their stuff. I love that there’s such a great quality place in the Valley now. It was definitely lacking. Great coffee whether a pour over, cold brew, or espresso n milk drink is your style. Excellent pastries as well. They always keep the Liquid Deaths on deck too which is always the move. So glad they popped up here. My only complaint is that I wish they opened a few years earlier :)

Finally a family owned coffee shop in Merriman Valley!!! Close proximity to CVNP, right on the main road and plenty of parking.

There's a variety of seating for the quick stops or those that want to enjoy a brew with friends. The coffee machines are state of the art and actually entertaining to watch at work.

Coffee flavor is smooth and not your average Joe...hehehe. Spread the word! This is your portal to great local beans, pastries and a chill meeting place.

Great coffee shop vibes. The staff here were super friendly. I ordered a med spiced honey chai and a banana walnut muffin. Both were delicious! Will def be coming back.

Portal West is amazing! The pour over was extremely fresh and poured perfectly. The entire shop is super cozy and the staff is really friendly. Will definitely be making it a regular coffee stop!

This place is adorable, well-priced, efficient, and the vibes here are great for studying, working, or meeting up with friends. I counted enough seating for 25-28 people. There's a few pastry options, (I’ve tried both the apple turnover and chocolate scone, and both were very good) but the coffee is definitely what you're coming for-- it's flavorful, and the baristas are knowledgeable and give great recommendations. I also appreciate the care that went into the development of a good tea latte menu as well. Definitely a gem for the Valley. Lots of plants and local art/photography on the walls, and ground coffee, filters, and supplies available for purchase as well.

The cortado was amazing. Warming with a nice finish.

I wish this place so much luck. I am over “new coffee shops” in Akron but this place is it! A true lover of the craft. Great homemade decor with a neat color palette.

And the location fits perfectly. You have to kinda look for it.

AMAZING coffee and tea. Paul is meticulous about where he sources his coffee & tea from, and you can tell when you taste any of their items. Everybody at Portal West is extremely thoughtful and considerate. The PRICE IS RIGHT TOO!!!

As you’re on the road, you’ll see a giant sight with green letters that says “Well-being.” Enter Portal West at the bottom of the steps of that sign.

Such a cute coffee shop! Very warm atmosphere when you walk in. Employees are incredibly friendly and helpful! My boyfriend and I had a very nice girl take our order who had great suggestions for an indecisive person like myself. The coffee we got was absolutely fantastic! My boyfriend got a cortado which he loved and I got latte! The foam on the latte was very thick and the drink was flavorful without being too sweet! A great place I can’t wait to recommend to my friends :)
