As a lover of good coffee and local businesses, this is now my favorite coffee shop. They have good music, Raleigh roasted beans, fresh tasting espresso, perfect cheese danishes, my lord there is nothing wrong with this place. It has a very modern yet rustic atmosphere. I would highly recommend for dates and as a place to study.

My wife and I got to have coffee here when we visited Raleigh. This place is great and the people were very friendly. The only thing is it was a little pricey. My wife got the Hazelnut Latte and I got the Chai Tea Latte. It was very delicious!

Great flavor of coffee and Mexican coffee. Also, I had the pecan croissant and it was so delightful. It was wet it a good way and not overly sweet. Next time I’ll be back for the coffee flight. it’s a great idea.

A friend recommended 42 and Lawrence. I went for the first time, yesterday, and it was an amazing experience. I had a Lavender Rose Vanilla Latte and it was amazing. It was a welcoming place and the staff was awesome. I would highly recommend this place if you just want to sit down and enjoy a great cup of coffee.

Lovely corner for people watching. Outside seating available. Ample inside seating for intimate conversations as well as communal experience. Good Americano coffee, great selection of teas including herbal, served iced or hot. Nice counter display adds to the flow of the store. Bathrooms for patrons only.

Named for a Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy reference (and for local roaster Larry Larson), it is perhaps somewhat fitting that this gem of a coffee shop has become our annual post-GalaxyCon caffeinate-and-cool off destination. While it boasts a sleek modern ambiance and welcoming staff, the biggest draw can be summed up in two words: coffee flights. With options including nitro cold brews, draft lattes, and more, this is a great way to sample a bit of everything and still get your caffeine fix. They are my wife’s go-to order while I usually opt for one of the seasonal drinks. The orange creamsicle I tried during our most recent visit isn’t something I would repeat, but I do credit them for trying out a variety of syrups and flavors.
There are plenty of coffee shops in Downtown Raleigh, but if you can abide by the limited seating, 42 and Lawrence offers all the strong coffee, inventive flavorings, and charm that you need.

I believe that this place can work on their customer service skills, specifically one of the lady who had no interaction with me but rang me up based on what I told her co-worker. One of the drinks I ordered was a summer special drink, Hibiscus Fizz, and it was very sweet. I love sparkling/seltzer water but not too sweet. When I told the lady it was too sweet she told me I should of ordered it with less sweetener. I ended up getting the Maghribi tea which was pretty good. The shop is a bit expensive. Overall, I may come back just for their teas.

Wish I could give them 2 stars but I think one is more than what they deserve. Starting with costume service, the guy was fine and very friendly and even apologized for the drink we ordered. However, the female employee with green hair and tattoos was quite unwelcoming and even showed some attitude when we asked the drink was not what we ordered. Their hot drinks are amazing btw. Other thing I didn't like it when I was about to order the baristas were busy among each other making jokes and whispering while I was waiting there and felt ignored. Overall, if you want the hot beverages, sure but not for any cold drinks. The pastries are overpriced too, $3.75 for a small nut bread muffin.

I love everything about this place. Locally owned by a sweet lady who is always here. Uniquely crafted lattes that you won't find anywhere else, lots of windows, stable wifi, and delicious pastries. They source Larry's beans which are delicious and a nice change from counter culture that most coffee shops in the area source.

Modern, bright and cozy atmosphere. Friendly owner and staff. Very out of balance lattes made with good ingredients (I believe the barista that served me was training so you may have a different experience). Pastries were too stale to determine their quality. But lamination looked good and they weren’t overly sweet. With a handful of great lattes in Raleigh I would not chose to spend my money here.
