I walked in for the first time in order to have a meeting over an afternoon coffee. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decor. I had a wonderful coffee prepared with a smile and great conversation (thanks Lilly!). I'll be back again.

I had an amazing experience when I went a few days ago. I bought a few things and a coffee, and the service there was impeccable. The man at the front counter was super nice and easy to talk to. I even had an incident where my car's battery went dead, and the man at the coffee bar helped jump start my car enough to get me home. I'll never forget that, and it was truly touching how helpful he was.

This place is awesome. Small but great atmosphere, friendly staff, and they do a great job with having nice stuff to choose from in the store. Support a fantastic local bookstore!

The interior reeks of charm. A great place to study, work remotely, or be surrounded by books.

We were passing through Morganton from Asheville (on our way to the Bookmarks Book Festival in Winston Salem....which is AMAZING) and I saw Books, which always catches my attention. I decided to pop in and see what they had. What a gorgeous space! As a big supporter and visitor of independent bookstores I'm so impressed with this space and selection.
While they not have the extensive selection of books a larger store does, the inventory is the most well curated of any smaller bookstore I've visited. The space is so brilliantly designed for relaxing, while not intruding on customers who are browsing. The customer service was top notch. Of course I walked away with books, latte, and cookies! The bakery is fabulous as well.
Morganton is lucky to have such a wonderful bookstore and it will be on my list of stops every time I'm traveling that way.

Thornwell books is an excellent place for coffee and relaxation and has a wonderful book selection. My wife and I came and got two coffees and a pastry for $7 and did work from the couches - the wifi was good. A great addition to downtown Morganton!

The gentleman who runs this shop is very kind and helpful everytime we visit. He knows exactly where everything is, and he's bound to have something you're looking for. I even found a field guide of reptiles, and a Greek mythology book that I've been looking for. He said he would keep a lookout for more mythology books for me.💖

The kindest staff and a super relaxing place to focus on work, read, or just hang out. Bakery food is amazing also! Definitely recommend stopping in. I’m here at least twice a week!

Such a sweet little spot in Morganton! The staff are all so incredibly friendly, the selection of books is awesome, and their coffee section is delicious - for such a great price! This is hands down my new favorite spot in town.
