Flat River Cafe

Very nice folks. Place was packed for lunch. Fast service. I ordered whitefish special but between my husband's order of trout, we got a piece of each. Very adequate portions.

This place closes at 2 for lunch. We arrived at 1:45 and attempted to order when it was very clear we were not welcomed. Waitress was very rude to which I chose to ignore. The hamburger and steak sandwiches arrived and all sides were cold. I told another waitress who was standing near by and she said it's too late to cook anymore. Went to pay and the my sandwich was more than advertised. I can handle average food, but rudeness I cannot. Will not go back. Good ole country people not so good.

I had a great experience the very first time going there. Every one since has been just as good. Thank you for ' service with a smile'. The food reminds me of 'dinner at grandma's' greatness. Thank you.

The best fried chicken, hands down. They use fresh, not frozen, hand breaded chicken. Bojangles, Popeyes or Smithfield's can't touch the flavor! Plus, their daily blue plate specials rock the house! The breakfast biscuits are LOADED, not that skimpy, where's the meat biscuits you get at fast food joints. Worth the drive for the quality.

Generally a great place to eat. However my food tonight wasn't up to normal standards. Fries were under cooked, and part of the bun on my burger was hard and dry. Unfortunately I got it to go, and didn't have time to go back. But not enough of an issue to deter merr from going again.

3.5 stars. This place makes great sausage gravy and biscuits. It's kind of a hole in the wall with a walk through next to a meat market. So 5 star dining it isn't. But it's definitely a good place for some southern breakfast. Biscuits are amazing. Sausage gravy is pretty good.

So, we really enjoy getting breakfast hear Saturday morning. It is really the closest thing to a "local gem" that I know of. Breakfast aside the daily weekday lunch specials are pretty appetizing....had ribs last Wednesday with a side of Mac n cheese and greens.

Great food, excellent service. A really great place to eat.

Fast and friendly service. Great specials. Large servings for the price. Never had a bad experience. A local favorite!
