Rather slow about service having to wait on coffee customers behind me waiting on coffee the three Spanish women talking in their language for nobody could understand them I was not impressed I don't know if I'll be back there again

not a single component of my bacon egg and cheese biscuit was warm, but it still tasted ok. my side of grits was completely unappealing. it was a tiny bowl of unseasoned watery gruel and I'm pretty sure the description mentioned bacon... my husband ordered the ribeye breakfast. let's just say it was "aged" to the point of being sour, the over-easy eggs were over cooked. disappointing.

The food was delayed we only had breakfast we didn't expect that to take long.. Anyway the food was just okay nothing special. The home fries seemed frozen burned didn't eat them. The chicken was frozen not fresh either. We just expected some home down cooking that's all.

Very small eat in area but worth the wait and the staff are very accommodating as we had a large party of 15 that took up 4 tables which is roughly 1/3 of the seating. The Chicken Fried Steak and a biscuit is heavenly with their white gravey! 😋

Hands down the best place to get breakfast in Buncombe County.

I consider myself a... connoisseur of breakfast foods. If I'm going to a sit-down restaurant, I'm most likely there for breakfast. So in recent years, I've been going to as many local restaurants to find the best breakfast menu in the area. I've been all over. Happy Hills, Tastee Diner, CA's Diner, you name it. I've most likely been there. But of all the places I've been, I'd never been to the Hungry Bear Café. So finally, yesterday, I went.

I honestly didn't expect that much. The building is extremely small (and therefore the dining area) and the prices are very low. I ordered biscuits & gravy, bacon and two pancakes. And boy let me tell you: This is easily the best place to get breakfast in the Buncombe area. I was blown away by the taste of all three things I ordered that I left the building full smiles all the way. The service is lightning fast and the staff are very friendly. The overall atmosphere of the place is very "cozy American diner"— Wood-carved bear statues, John Wayne, diner memorabilia, Coca-Cola, it's all there and from the moment you walk in the door, you get the feeling that you've been there before.

If you've never been here before, I HIGHLY recommend it. You will not be disappointed.

The food is great and they have the awesome crushed ice. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back. The cooks are fast and the food is tasty. The waitresses are friendly and make sure you have everything. Amazing place. The waitresses all help everyone so you can ask any of them for anything. I had Amber, Flor, and Antia today...they are wonderful and a great team.

Great little cafe, perfect for the family but a small space. Kids enjoyed it and liked the food. Juices were big servings so the kids liked it even more!

I love this cafe, the best breakfast you can get in Buncombe county, the lunch menu is just as good, I am in the process of trying everything on the menu, so far it’s delicious!! If you haven’t eaten here yet then you are missing out! You got to try this place, you may have to wait for a seat for breakfast bc it’s usually ful but it’s worth the wait!
