Character Coffee

Damn, Utica has an excellent coffee scene! I tried and loved all the local favs but Character stood a cut above for me, their espressos were superb and that brewed coffee (turkish on the menu) might actually be my favorite that I've had from anywhere. The "all characters welcome" bit really rang true: everyone's a real joy to hang out with, was thrilled any time I got to sit by and watch Katie and Jon's love of the craft. Already can't wait to be back! :D

My sister and I visited this shop for the first time today. I absolutely love the interior design. The menu is clear and uncomplicated. I decided to try the pistachio caramel iced latte and it did not disappoint. I could taste the flavor without it over powering the coffee. I would highly recommend checking it out.

Great spot! Super cozy and the drinks were amazing. Dirty chai latte is especially tasty!!!

The coffee is amazing! Great options for teas. The staff are always so sweet and personable. I love coming here to relax with a cup of coffee.

Excellent coffee, the kind you can drink neat with no chaser. Friendly atmosphere that welcomes all sorts. Tasty cookies and donuts, plus Soul Food next door for more substantial fare. I was not paid to write this review but a small reward next time I visit would be nice.

Had the Honey Lavender Coffee it was amazing. I have gone to this shop twice now each time the coffee was delicious. The interior is beautiful and has calm and chill environment perfect for an class assignment or work that has to be done. Great place for a nice conversation with your peeps. That have good pastries too. Like yesterday one of my mentors shared a snickerdoodle with me it had fantastic taste. Overall a nice place to chill and have coffee. The coffee barista is an awesome person and makes incredible coffee.

Small, comfortable. Very kind and knowledgeable staff! I have been to many different coffee shops and never had such a pleasant experience with a barista. I asked a couple of questions and wasn’t met with an answer chock-full of coffee snobbery. Made me and all my dietary needs feel very welcome. Will definitely be back!

This was my 1st time going to this place. I enjoyed the decor and the different types of coffee. I believe on this particular concession I had a coffee that possibly had a hint if lavender. I remember it being quite intriguing so I tried it out. The owner and workers were very kind and helpful. It is a great place to hang out with your friends or having a pow wow with business partners. Prices are comparable to Starbucks and other speciality coffee brands but the quality of the coffee definitely has wonderful flavors and just a robust tasting coffee. I think there is a great location downtown Utica. I didn't catch the hours but it was nice to go there mid day on a Saturday to hang out. Definitely a place I would go visit again.

A concise, charming, casual-cafe — committed to churning out coffee cravings. They deserve all the affection and alliteration.

Truly achieves the idea of creating a 'third place' for customers. I miss the days of responding to emails or striking up random conversations while sitting at your oversized-bartop.
