Excellent roaster and espresso bar with an airy plant filled seating area that really takes advantage of the unique building. Top roaster in the city I've found for single blends. Hidden a bit but totally worth it - support your local small business that makes world class coffee.

Great place for a V60 or Chemex. Delicious pastries and amazing Ethiopia espresso. Will return here for coffee.

I decided to go for a coffee flight and a chocolate flight while at Joe Bean. The baristas are clearly attentive to detail and want to ensure a good experience for the client. The brewing process is succinct, the workers hospitable, and the ambiance pleasant. Above all, everything was delicious. I'm not often in Rochester, so when I visit I usually only visit one or two places for coffee. Joe Bean just moved to my #1 preference. I can't wait to return.

Edit: Dropping one star as I've been sitting for 35 minutes waiting for a coffee.

This is what the movement of really high-level coffee experience should really be all about. I cannot compare it to any other latte I've had in Rochester. This alone puts Joe Bean as the best coffee in town in my opinion - Ugly Duck, Glen Edith, Fuego, Coffee Connection, etc., I'm looking at you!I liked Joe Bean on the one occasion I got to visit their former location on University Avenue, and in some respects,

A surprising experience as out of towners. The pour over we had was impressive and the coffee bar atmosphere was nice for people on computers like us or others chatting. It felt like a Chicago or NYC spot with the high top tables and dark wood and brass. Definitely recommend it as a place to have a decent coffee and hang out for a bit. Only heads up is that the food menu is limited. Good but limited.

Joe bean is a wonderful coffee shop to spend either alone reading or with a group of friends catching up. The atmosphere is peaceful and warm. Lots of plants and windows. Seating has a good variety of high and low chairs. The coffee is wonderful with a list to choose from beans and brewing method. Food menu is slowly growing. Not too many yummy options for non coffee drinkers. A few beers to choose from including a gluten free beer! Staff is wonderful and very knowledgeable. There are beans and other items you can purchase.

I give them a 5 star review for the coffee taste but not for the customer service or their business model. It’s very rigid. The quality of the coffee is very high.

Excellent coffee, well prepared. The espresso was dialed in exactly, the milk steamed to a perfect microfoam without too much heat. There's a lot of know-how behind the bar.
While the service is a little slower than I'm used to. The quality blows blue bottle, intelli, grumpy, and the rest of the larger 3rd wave shops out of the water.

Walked in here without any expectations and came to really appreciate the employees' love and fascination for coffee. They know their stuff. The coffee I had was an Ethiopian grind in an aeropress and it was deep and rich. For the price and the atmosphere, couldn't go wrong with it! And most certainly I will be bringing my wife here for a date. It's a nice place to chill. I will be coming back!

Incredible coffee! No drip coffee... each coffee is made to order: chemex, hario V60, clever, (and of course espresso)... They moved locations and no longer do food but their coffee by the bag and made-to-order cups are still the best around. They also now offer a more economical line of blends that are still fantastic.
