This family café is a little diamond in the rough. We have passed by this establishment many times with it either being packed or closed. Well, last weekend while on our way to Medina, we noticed that Sunrise Family Cafe was open. So, we did a quick U-turn and stopped in for something to eat for breakfast. We both ordered the western omelette with sour dough toast, fresh cut hash browns, and coffee from our very friendly waitress, Nicole. The locals, we found out later, come here often and everybody was glad to see some new faces. The staff were very personable and made sure that we were comfortable and that the food was up to our standards. And let me, tell you, the food served at Sunrise outdoes most of the restaurants in WNY. The prices cannot be beat! Nicole, was so kind and attentive throughout our breakfast meal. She even came to the front door to let us know she appreciated her tip. She was genuine in every way and not going through the motions of a business transaction. We can tell when a waitress is truly sincere and when not. We will definitely come back to this family restaurant. I felt bad when I drove back from Medina as I wanted to stop in again for their strawberry shortcake. It was getting late and the Sunrise Cafe was closed. But, my intent is to get there to order one of their slices of homemade pie or perhaps (lol) some strawberry shortcake...wink...wink.

Well, we went back today and were not disappointed. Everyone remembered us and treated us in such a kind manner. The coffee was delicious and never ending. Rachel (not Nicole, my bad) came over to our table, greeted us, and took our order. We ordered three eggs (me, sunnyside up, and my friend, easy over), hash browns (additionally I added cornbeef hash), sausage patties (hamburger sized), and sour dough bread. My yokes were just right so I could dip my sour dough toast in them, the hash was delish, and the toast done just right for dipping. Rachel was awesome and had no attitude. But, what she did possess was pure genuine concern about what has been happening in our lives. This is truly one of the many reasons why we tip very high at this establishment. She did not rush us, patiently waited for me to order (I am a bit indecisive at times), and carried on a lengthy conversation with my friend. I loved looking at all of the old fashioned pictures on the wall as well as the present day artwork. The restaurant itself is set up in such a way that you are not rubbing shoulders with the couple next to you. There is no bothersome echoing of voices which we have experienced in other dining avenues. The total for all that we ordered was a mere $16.49 before the gratuity was added. Once again, we will return if the cooking and hospitality are up to our standards. The Sunrise Family Café passes and will continue to pass our expectations all for the right reasons. Kudos to Renee, the owner, for hiring such a friendly and adept crew to serve its great food to repeat and newbie customers. Rachel and Stephanie always wear a smile and greet ya as you come through the door. I mean, these are down to earth and very wonderful people. Thus, I recommend this quaint little gem to highest degree. Some restaurants in the Buffalo and Amherst region should learn from the Sunrise and rise to the occasion of having breakfast, lunch (or dinner on Fridays), as well as Eggs Benedict on Sunday mornings. Amen to a great place in our book of places to dine where everything goes fine.

Can't make a scrambled egg. They crack it onto the hot griddle mix it around. That's a chopped fried egg. Brother ordered chicken and biscuits, no chicken at all in the mix. Reordered a different item they put his order at the end of the line and claimed they did not mess up his first order. Enough was enough moved on down the road to another restaurant.

Took the food about 45 minutes to come out and it was cold. Home fries were not cooked and the onions were raw. First time, last time eating here.

Generally good food and prices. Unfortunately, everything on all 5 meals tasted bland and service as slow. I’d recommend it overall, but not overwhelmingly.

A tiny cafe that’s always got folks stopping in…we finally understand why! The breakfast is amazing, with specials like pumpkin spice French toast, and the price was definitely right! Our whole BILL was less than $15, but we left completely full and satisfied!

I eat here as often as I can! Food is great and service is better than most places! We come to Lockport for the summer to beat the heat of Florida.. keep up the great food!!!!
