Delicious food, great service and an accomplishment no restaurant has gotten for me before...a perfectly done set of over-medium eggs. This is the first place that got my egg order RIGHT! I had the chicken fried steak breakfast combo. The breading was golden brown, the cream gravy was flavorful and rich, the eggs (as noted above) were perfect, and the biscuit was melt in your mouth fluffy...I am now a regular customer after one visit, and Intend to return often for more delicious meals.

Favorite breakfast/lunch for locals. Very good variety on menu. Good, friendly service. B- for my burger / fries.

We have historically loved this place. Have gone out of our way to support them when restaurants were takeout only. We were there today and the waitresses and cook staff were wearing their masks around their chins. Not ok. Do better. Our community is being ravaged by this pandemic because of careless people like that. Will never eat there again and neither should you.

Every time I go to Alto Cafe
I’m never disappointed.
Absolutely one of my favorites in Ruidoso

Wonderful, genuine small café. Although the daily buffet, meatloaf on our visit, looked good, as we were in New Mexico, I had to go for the green chile cheeseburger. It was huge and tasty....and reasonably priced. The fries were crisp and hot. We plan to stop by in future visits!

Love their food! Bonita Biscuit so yummy and their catfish is the best I've had in a long time! You have to try their chicken fried steak and sirloin breakfast plate 🍽️ 😋 🤤

A good choice after skiing. We had the catfish plate and enjoyed it. The kids plates were just okay, though. I would probably just split something off the adult menu.

Alto Cafe is a great place to stop for a meal. I have ordered several meals from their breakfast menu, but I have never been there for lunch. Their biscuits gravy is very good, but my favorite (what I usually order) is their smothered burrito with green sauce. I'm not completely sure what is in the burrito; I think there is bacon, scrambled egg, potatoes and cheese. I generally eat half, and take the rest home for later because it's pretty big. Alto Cafe's prices are reasonable as well. I eat at Alto Cafe about twice a month, and the food has always been good, as has the service.

We have ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here over 2 days. Each time we called in the order to go. The service was good but the food was outstanding which is why we ate there 3 times. Definitely worth it.

Most unsanitary restaurant I have ever seen . Our waitress was eating in front on the cabinet by the register , touched her mouth numerous times and then grabbed our plates without EVER washing her hands . Ordered a cinnamon roll , she wiped her nose with her hand and then proceeded to unwrap the cinnamon roll to heat it up . 🤢 The cooks were not wearing masks , and was picking food off of plates and eating it , while cooking our food . There was a finger smear of bbq sauce on our plate . 🤢 Another waitress was refilling plastic syrup bottles and the syrup dripped on the side, she used the cap to scrape it off the side off the bottle and then put it on . Now everyone’s germs are in the syrup 🤢 Don’t waste your time , potatoe salad and beans were tasteless .
