This is the first coffee I had on my trip to Albuquerque from Seattle, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere—calm and cozy with plenty of seating. The next thing was the friendliness of the owners. After taking my order, we chatted about my trip here and Steve I think it was gave me a recommendation, even shaking my hand. Being met with such positivity and human connection was a fantastic way to begin the day. Then last but certainly not least is the coffee.
Coming from Seattle, I thought it might be difficult to find coffee living up to my snobby tastebuds. Yet, their lavender latte really pulled through. It looked great, and tasted even better!
It’s really no wonder why this place is so highly rated. I recommend it to all, visitors and locals alike.

Great spot. Peeps are friendly. The coffee is yummy. Look and feel could do with some tlc. My Ethiopian didn’t taste the greatest.

I’ve always thought good coffee was hard to come by in ABQ, but this has changed my opinion. Nestled on the north west edge of downtown, this quaint little joint knows how to prepare coffee! Indoor and outdoor seating, though not a ton. Great decor inside complete with coffee products for sale, at for sale, and even a mini record shop! And the coffee was fantastic. Day one was just a mocha, one of my favorite ways to judge a coffee shop: those starting with bad coffee usually put way too much mocha flavorings in order to cover the poor coffee flavor, but not Castle! The mocha flavoring was mild and really allowed the rich, complex flavors of their espresso beans to be the dominant flavor. Day two will be a pour over — the ultimate beans test.

Flew into Albuquerque von Austria yesterday and started today at Castle Coffee. Great atmospere, amazing coffee and super friendly staff! Try their single origins and their espresso blends! Highly recommend!!!

Look no further for a downtown craft coffee shop. I'm just passing through Albuquerque but if I lived here this is where I'd be a regular. Josh was so helpful and friendly. I got the iced coffee which had incredible floral notes and the donuts were incredible.

The best coffee shop in Albuquerque!
Delicious coffee, amazing asthetic, great prices, and even better atmosphere.
Truly the best flat white I have had since Australia!
Castle coffee just launched their own, roasting line!
Can't wait to come back

My experience at Castle was remarkable. Ryan and Matt made my visit special. It is the only option for coffee in Albuquerque.

Cute shop with a different variety of coffee and pastries. Very hipster environment. Staff is extra friendly and seem to know their regulars. Had to wait a while for my iced latte but two people apologized. Not too allergy friendly since do not have nonfat/low-fat milk and only nut/oat milk alternatives (which I can’t have).

Castle coffee offers some outstanding specialty coffee. It’s some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. Great little shop downtown run by an awesome guy. The staff is all super friendly and helpful. The shop itself is a great spot to hang out or get some work done. The area has some free street parking available. They are moderately priced for amazing specialty coffee. Check them out.

Very nice owners. good coffee at a nice location. Unfortunately the place is getting busy with the “office camping “ crowd.
Update 1/20/2020 10:15:
Tried again as we really like the coffee. I guess the popularity of the shop speaks for itself, unfortunately no place to sit again while plenty of patrons use the shop to complete their homework or use it as a virtual office. Even the outside tables were occupied in January. On the other hand if you need to borrow a pen or a highlighter you would have plenty of people to ask.
Update:
The perfect time to visit is just after lunch, around 1pm (not Saturday). No issues finding a seat.
Update 2023: Still one of the outstanding coffee shops, highly recommended, but another two visits in a row where all but one table were occupied by single people using all space as an office. While I understand that the owner has little influence how the space is used, I won't get out of my way on a Saturday to visit.
