Super cute coffee shop! Loved the interior and vibe. The coffee was pretty good. We tried the polychrome and another drink on the Science menu that I can’t remember the name of. Loved the seating area that resembled the inside of an airplane. So cool! Staff was also very friendly. Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area. But plan to wait a little bit. Seems like it can get pretty busy and packed. Especially on a Saturday morning or early afternoon.
Now for my standard COVID comments as of April 2023. No one is wearing masks. I felt comfortable in the shop but do notice that it could get crowded when waiting in line. Besides that, it was all good.

I think this was more of an "it's not you, it's me situation". Starting with what we liked. The staff was incredibly nice and friendly. A man waited from before we got there until just about when we got our drink patiently. It was clear they forgot his order (bag of coffee grounds), but to make up for it they: 1) apologized sincerely, 2) gave him a coupon for a free coffee next time & 3) gave him a free coffee on the spot. You can't put a price on good service! That being said we got the Nam Dam and Milo, both medium, both hot. It was just not the kind of coffee I'm into I guess. It tasted really earthy and rooty and nothing like coffee (and that was with the extra espresso shots we added). It was as if they added a table spoon of spice to the drinks and I just couldn't drink it. This was annoying because the price was really high! However, with that, again I think it just wasn't the place for us. The line was out the door so clearly they have a good following. I might try it again, but for now, my overall grade is a 1.8 out of 5.

I recently visited Paper Plane Coffee and had a fantastic experience. The pour over I ordered was expertly brewed and tasted amazing. The coffee shop has a modern, lab-like feel that adds to the overall experience. The attention to detail in both the coffee and the aesthetics of the shop is impressive. I would definitely recommend Paper Plane Coffee to any coffee lover looking for a unique and delicious coffee experience. 5 stars!

I have been here a few times over the last few months and my experiences have been nothing short of amazing. The coffee and coffee drinks are so tasty and strong! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner, Jonathan has gone above and beyond with the new shop renovations… I highly suggest you check it out if you are an aviation buff, and just in general! It is beautiful. I always look forward to my return here.

I’ve been to almost every coffee shop worth visiting in North NJ and can say that this is the best one I’ve visited.
Coffee: 5/5 great consistent selection of single origin beans. Not the best ones I’ve had in NJ, but it’s probably the best value considering its price point is very reasonable! Truly an innovative coffee shop when it comes to the selection of drinks they offer. There are so many drinks to choose from that I think can serve all types of coffee drinkers, whether you appreciate the intricate tasting notes of an Ethiopian single origin pour over, or you're the type to mostly drink sweeter coffee drinks. I definitely want to try everything!
Vibe: 5/5. It’s a unique experience for sure with its retro airplane theme. I appreciate the fidelity to the theme and it’s consistent execution in even the fine details that most people wouldn’t notice. The music can be hit or miss. When I visited early Sunday morning, they had a Japanese city pop playlist going on, which seems to be a subtle nod to its retro aesthetic, which I highly appreciate. But later that day, the music changed and can’t say I was a fan of the later playlists. Not a big deal and everyone has their own tastes, I'm just glad I got to hear some city pop that I never thought I'd hear at a coffee shop!
Service: 5/5 they’ve always been very friendly to me every time I’ve visited, happy to answer any questions I’ve had and were patient with my indecisiveness haha

Paper Plane Coffee Co. is just the kind of unique, small business shop that you’d expect in Montclair, NJ. It’s a 1 of a kind coffee cafe w/ an eclectic feel, a comfortable setting w/ outdoor seating, a stand out menu, terrific service, a crowd of diverse & friendly faces, reasonable prices, and, of course, AMAZING COFFEE!!!
If you ever find yourself on Claremont Ave, do yourself a service & stop by!

My favorite coffee place in Montclair. Great choice of coffee (from the barista or whole beans), and now a great new location! Many different things to try and enjoy.

We LOVE Paper Plane! The staff is always so so friendly and helpful! The variation in drinks is the appeal - these flavors are so thoughtfully curated and you'll never find them anywhere else. Personally, I enjoyed the Milo drink and Mayan Coffee. I'm looking forward to trying a coffee soda in the future!

Stay fly, Paper Plane Coffee Co. crew! The culture at this newly renovated shop is something one can enjoy experiencing while sipping on one their unique "science" coffee menu items ( I suggest the Polychrome). You'll find students from the nearby Montclair State University ( proud alumni here) to real estate agents discussing closing sales to HR looking through their notes. Of course, part of the great experience is also seeing the diverse and charismatic Paper Plane Coffee Co. crew providing excellent customer experiences. Thank you!

One of my favorite coffee spots. Great service. Coffee is perfectly done every time. I moved away from Montclair but whenever I am in the area, I have to get it.. Another spot recommendation: Mendham? :-)
