Came to Independence to visit family last weekend, and they took us to Ahadu. Such a warm and inviting coffee shop. The savory crepes were to die for! The Ahadu special coffee was the best uniquely spiced coffee I’ve ever had! But what made it perfect was the owners joy in serving every single customer that came through those doors. Can’t wait til we’re in town again because we will definitely be back!

Very good coffees that are roasted in house. Owner roasts in house and understands his coffees. Roaster on display in main sitting area is a work of art itself.
Staff very friendly and owner took the time to show his roaster and explain his coffees. Nice quiet cozy setting for some of the best tasting coffee around!!
Had kid friendly drinks/shakes so kids felt part of the AM coffee experience!

We finally made time to come back here and have crepes. First, the coffee is great. I had a brown sugar and cinnamon latte. The flavors were spot on!
For breakfast, I had the ham and egg crepes. She had the lemon and sugar crepes. Both were delicious!!
Supporting local businesses is where I put my money. Places like Ahadu are gems and should be posted about. We deserve better than corporate, overpriced, sugar coffee. Just my opinion!

A truly wonderful, friendly, clean, and amazing experience! Coffee beverages NOT over flavored by flavoring syrups---they want us to taste the coffee. On-premisis coffee roasting and their hand-roasted coffee is GOOD. Bakery and kitchen items are delicious and match the coffee in terms of quality and excellence. A wonderful environment that is inviting (and rewarding). This is a memorable establishment that we will return to. Again and again.

The Crepes here are amazing!!! They are only $7.99 and are larger than most sandwiches. Easily the best tasting Crepe I’ve ever eaten. The employees were also super nice. You can watch as they make the crepes and the guy was doing a great job entertaining my little girls and explaining the process of making them. The coffee is amazing too. I got the Ahadu special coffee and it was delicious. Thank you for a great dining experience!! We will be back!

I've been hearing about Ahadu for quite some time but have yet to make it in until today, and I'm glad I did.
The atmosphere is great for putting the headphones on and getting some work done.
Pro tip: Do your part buying a small bevvy or snack for every hour you plan on staying. I did not stay today but I would have loved to if I'd had time. It's just a helpful hint for coffee shops that don't make a ton of money in the first place, and is the same across the board for every other small business.
The barista was amazing, store was clean, products well-stocked and I had a surprisingly amazing cup of black Ethiopian coffee!
I heard they have crepes on the weekends and I'll be back for sure to try them out.
Way to go Ahadu! Don't ever leave LS!

Wow. Just tried their crepes (Fri-Sun 9a-3p). So tasty! Both savory and sweet crepes. Owner makes by hand. Very friendly. Kids loved watching. And coffee is wonderful. Very fun place to hang out. Has Lord of the Ring trivial pursuit which is an added bonus. Good location. Pricing is good. Super fun place to go. Only regret is we didn’t try it sooner. Warning: crepes are huge. Next time we will likely share them!! And crepes are made fresh so it takes a little while to make them. About 10min to make them (makes two at a time though)

WOW!!! All I can say is wow! Fantastic food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and absolutely wonderful coffee. I cannot begin to express how good their crepes are!! If you're in the mood for a nice café date or coffee and breakfast, this is the spot! Definitely a hidden gem in this town, and would recommend to anyone AND everyone! My tummy is so happy!!~ 🤤🤤🤤

I had the Ahadu special (espresso, steamed half and half, vanilla, caramel, and almond) and it was the best coffee I've ever had. Normally I add milk/syrup to my coffee to overwhelm the bitterness. Here they add things to bring out the flavor of the coffee. The scone I had was also fantastic, and the staff was really friendly.
Update: visit 2 I tried their crêpes. They were also fantastic, certainly better than Chez Elle, if not as wide a selection. The ham and pesto was an amazing explosion of flavors. My wife still loves their hot chocolate, and my kids still love their smoothies. The staff interacted with us and our boys, and it was a genuinely wonderful time. If there was one thing I would change it would be having some small cups and ice water out where we could just go grab one.
Update 2: it's been a couple years, and Ahadu has only gotten better. I've done painting nights, had ice cream, and used their new drive-thru. Teddy even has a fancy roasting machine now. This is still the best coffee place in the metro.

Stopped in on a whim and was very glad I did! The staff and ambience couple together to make a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Very friendly baristas and the owner seems like a great guy himself.
What really sets this place apart is that they roast their own beans and have their own signature blends of flavors.
To me, I usually like just about any little coffee shop I walk into, but this one just seemed a little extra special, so I wrote this review.
