I got to visit this coffee shop today and as a public (non-student) visitor, I had a great time.

A couple of tips:
There is limited parking at the Student Center where the coffee shop is located. I parked at the chapel and walked up a short hill to get to the entrance. You can see the coffee shop from the entrance, so easy to find.
The seating options are varied as there are a couple of tables and high tops for laptop users and some great comfy armchairs that are also available.
The wifi password is posted on the wall by the main doorway, so that was a bonus.
There is outdoor seating as well, just off of the main entrance, which is next to a Christian bookstore (that is also open to the public).
The coffee is local (PT's) and the drip was good and very reasonably priced. They have a nice pour over menu as well but I didn't sample those this time.
I enjoyed the welcoming and beautiful architecture and was able to get a few hours of work done at this new-to-me spot. Very thankful it is open to the public!

Sadly we we’re excited to try a new coffee shop in Gladstone area. Google states their hours as if they are a public place, this place is exclusive to students who have special access to the building. Needless to say we couldn’t get in and were just stared at by the Christian employees and students.

Great coffee and atmosphere and all the employees are super courteous and kind. They have a GrubHub option which is super convenient for ordering ahead or for delivery. They not only serve Messenger coffee, but have an awesome tea selection, pastries, ice cream, and smoothies! Since it is nestled on a college campus it does a great job serving the students, keeping with their academic schedule (extending or reducing hours), but also catering to the public with a great option for coffee and community in the Northland. Keep an eye for brew demos or coffee tastings! I highly recommend the Tomlinson Cafe!!

I always love trying new coffee shops. I was in the area and discovered this one and was so excited. I have never been made to feel more uncomfortable. The girl working the register acted like she didn’t even want to greet me and the other employee asked me what I wanted in a very bland unwelcoming tone. I do not recommend.

I love the Tomlinson Cafe! Their coffee is consistent, their staff is friendly and always willing to help, and the environment of the shop is great! Given that this is on a college/seminary campus, the shop strikes a great balance of both being open during standard "coffee shop" hours, while also matching the rhythms of the campus (closing for chapel, holidays, etc.). The Northland needed a great coffee shop with quality coffee and atmosphere, and Tomlinson delivers on that every day!

Tomlinson Cafe is a wonderful little place to get coffee. Serves Messenger coffee (a Kansas City staple! Located within Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, the staff is friendly and engaging. They have great dark and light roast coffee as well as a host of delicious latte options. They have unique coffee options as well like the cold brew lemonade (don’t knock it tell you try it!) All in all a great place that serves a wonderful seminary.

Tomlinson Cafe is a great place to stop by for some great coffee and pastries. What makes this cafe exceptional, though, is the incredibly kind and intentional service given by the baristas. They are careful to not only get your order correct, but to ask about your day and get to know you as a customer - something you definitely don't find in every coffee shop!

If fantastic coffee (and having good books in close proximity) give you joy, then you definitely want to check out Tomlinson Cafe! The coffee and food are amazing, the atmosphere in the Mathena Student Center is perfect as a place to study or to hang out, plus the Sword and Trowel bookstore next door has all sorts of great books to go along with the great coffee.

I love my visits to Tomlinson! The staff are always kind and helpful, and always willing to have a conversation. Their seasonal specials are always fun, and the atmosphere is open and airy with cozy seating and lots of windows. Plus, they serve Messenger Coffee which is one of the best in KC!

Coffee shop is not available for the public. Tried to get in and the doors were locked and people were staring at us and were no help at all.
