Chapel is available here. Beautiful place to rest and recreate. Music events, bookclubs, meeting center and AWESOME COFFEE.

This is a great place to relax and have a cup of coffee.

Update: July 6th, 2022

It's #coffee time! I ordered St. Dominic's black and white which means it's coffee with black and white syrup (or flavor anyway.) I don't care for the whipped cream. For whatever reason it seems a bit on the hard side. But the actual coffee is oh so good!

Update: 3-27-23 I ordered St. Dominic's Black & white mocha and everything was good!

St. James Coffee is always full of activity, but never too loud to get work done. Customers are always greeted with a smiling face, and their volunteer baristas make better drinks than other chain coffee shops ('cause they're made with love)! Truly unique experience.

A small non-profit Catholic based coffee shop that welcomes all. Most of the baristas are volunteers. The coffee is very good and the atmosphere is one of quiet and contemplation. They have many youth activities and various groups meet there.

One of those places that feels it could only exist in Rochester. St. James is a Catholic “Cheers”, a place that succeeds (brilliantly) at feeling safe and warm, even if, as I am, you’re not a Christian. The coffee is good, and you’re as likely as not to overhear earnest conversations about the meaning of life.

Cozy place to sit and talk, study, or read. Friendly staff and tasty coffee.

Leslie Leamons

Great friendly coffee shop. Fine place to meet friends over coffee or to relax on your own.

Sara Lohse

Cozy, community-centered atmosphere. Love the staff! They even held a private piano recital event that my daughter participated in. Coffee, tea, & smoothies were enjoyed by our family in attendance!

There's an old idea that's been floating around for a while that sparked the idea of an American Shopping Mall. This idea was called a "Third Place", a space separate from Work and Home where consumers can feel comfortable and send time with one another. Specifically, a space without the responsibility of cleaning or prepping a time in the home, and without the pressure of work tasks splitting people's attention and priorities. Nowadays, this role is not filled by the dying outlet mall but the thriving coffee shop industry.

St. James is a Catholic coffee shop and they beautifully display this without shame. I would absolutely recommend this as a STAPLE Rochester, MN "Third Place" for its loving and friendly patrons and staff. One can also volunteer there if they so please, which makes for a great early work experience!

Wonderful place 👍👍👍
