Just left this shop and had to sit in the shade quick to leave this review.
If you’re from out of town and need a coffee/espresso shop pls go here now. My needs for coffee are no frills, delicious espresso over ice with a small amount of cream. IME this is an annoying order to shops that usually have a 5+ step process to their drinks.
The barista at Matchbox was like “I got you” and then handed me the best coffee I’ve had on my vacation yet. Thanks lady!!!!

Matchbox is awesome! Their drinks are amazing, their service is fast and it always comes with a kind & considerate attitude. I genuinely enjoy being in their space. They've been part of this neighborhood for 17 years and they also support local artists! Highly recommend.

Such a great spot! Friendly and accommodating. A Real NE treasure! 💯 Recommended by my dog!

It’s the best coffee in NE. Great vibe, the friendliest staff.

Close knit atmosphere with polite and talkative staff. Good espresso. My latte was a little over frothy but tasted good. Noticed two problems with the menu. "Cold press" is actually an iced americano and "Thai coffee" is just a depth charge with condensed milk (instead of coffee steeped in a bag over hot water) but as long as you don't want real cold press or actual thai coffee everything else seemed pretty good.

Very, very, good coffee. They also sell whole beans. Very community oriented and Northeast centric - which is great. They sponsor local art and put it on their walls. It’s very much a NE Mpls hangout. Kind, prompt, and serious service; I love the baristas here. It’s a small operation, so sometimes at peak times there’s a little line, but the barista’s are on it and it’s totally okay. Best coffee shop in Northeast.

Love! Cool vibe. Yummy coffee. CASH ONLY, FYI. Please support local shops like this. They've been in NE for 17-years and are primarily volunteer based. Cheers to good coffee!

A funky little coffee house that serves up great coffee in a tiny space. Environmentally conscious practices. Interesting collection of decorations. Very limited seating. Some good food choices. Cash only. Great spot.

Great little coffee shop and pastries.

Spent $15 at a trendy coffee shop in Minneapolis, threw the nasty coffee away, went into this coffee shop, and got WONDERFUL tasting coffee for half the price. As a barista myself, I am picky with my coffee. I was completely satisfied with the drinks I got. Definitely a hidden gem in Minneapolis.
