We were on a trip south and came across this lovely place to stop and grab a quick but tasty lunch. Our waiter was super friendly to chat with; he offered suggestions.
The food menu was surprisingly varied, and the prices were fair. It was around noontime, and we wanted soup, salad, and a sandwich between the two of us. The Neste Club and Chicken Wrap are excellent. Several tables were filled with locals who seemed to enjoy the ambiance and find it a good place to meet up to chat. We liked the family atmosphere and the bright colored serving plates and theme throughout the café.
I napped one of Becky’s scones for the road. It tasted freshly baked and had a nice crumbly consistency, which I like for a scone. I had a top off of Espresso coffee to go, being it was perfectly roasted and hot.
We enjoy supporting small business owners; this fun stop felt like it mattered to the staff that attended to us. It was helpful that I could pull out my computer and use their free Wi-Fi. It was cozy to dine in the front room. We saw several others also doing takeout orders. Also, a few tables were available outdoors, but it was too windy that day - being close to the De Moines River. It’s located conveniently near interesting downtown shops and we were able to take in a few before getting back on the road.
I definitely recommend trying it out if you like good American fare. Finding parking was easy
From black coffee to specialty drink that takes fifteen seconds to name, this place can serve it up. Milk allergy? No problem. Extra flavors? You got it. Tried and true traditional house? You bet.
Great coffee for very fair prices, created by helpful and pleasant employees every visit. Cozy spot if you want to dine in. What’s not to like?
Love the Coffee Nest! Everyone who works there is always in a good mood. The espresso never taste burnt, they have a great range of coffee and bakery treats. Their breakfast and lunch sandwiches are flavorful and filling. Its the prefect place to meet with friends or just grab and go.
This is a great friendly little shop. They have good eats and even better coffee. They are not open as late as I would hope, but that's common for a small town.
Excellent coffee for an even better price! Their food is delicious and affordable, and freshly made scones are always good with a morning cup of coffee. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming, it makes me wish they were open longer than 2pm on the week days.
It has been some time since this Virginia native was at the Coffee Nest! I still remember the service and the people. I wish I was local so I could go more often. If you are in the area or passing thru, GO!!
