Will never be back! They said they have a smelt fry, they don’t. That’s a lie. No beer! They said there “tap lines” were down. Didn’t see a sever tell 15 minutes after being seated. No owner around. GO TO TAVERN ON THE HILL!!!! Tavern is an excellent place to eat!! Awesome food, awesome staff!! 10:10 recommend!!

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food! The portions were the perfect size. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and it was delicious. I will definitely be coming here again! Overall had a great experience dining at Vanilla Bean.

My girlfriend, 2 friends, and I stopped in on a Duluth trip because my girlfriend had an amazing experience in the past. We started the visit out with two amazing London Fogs and two simple glasses of soymilk and 2% milk. I explicitly told the waitress that my girlfriend and I were vegan and she expressed understanding. I was questioning the Portage dish which apparently was an omelet but the waitress did not mention that it had eggs. I take blame on that fact that I missed the omelet label a few inches above that. She was not very attentive and we felt like another number to her. We placed our orders and waited 30 minutes for the food. All four orders of food arrived cold. The waitress spilled a preserve on me staining my clothes. The waitress might have been having an off day but I can't explain away the cold food. We were all unhappy with this experience. Even my girlfriend was underwhelmed because she had ordered the same exact dish she had in the past. The recipe and cook had changed to something less palatable. The manager refused to remove the mistaken order from the check. After some back and forth with the manager, he gave us 50% off of the mistaken order. I was on the verge of walking out and not paying. I give this place a one star for the London Fogs. Customer focused service seems to have been lost at this restaurant. The prices for the food are absurd as well. Absolutely not worth the money for taste, warmth, quantity, and service.

Absolutely delicious. The Castle Danger hash is one of the best things you can eat in the city. The coffee is just ok, and the tables are a little high for our taste - everything else about this place is GREAT, including the staff. Should have got photos because the presentation is beautiful - but it was just too good to slow down.

Wow! They have some unique dishes as well as unique coffee choices. Absolutely everything we ordered was AMAZING! The staff was wonderful as well! It’s a must try!!!!!

This place was GREAT!! I can't wait to go back. Handmade minindoughnuts were phenomenal.

Amazing food and coffee! I got the Castle Danger Hash, and it was fantastic! Family got pancakes and a baked omelette, and all were very yummy. Berry white mocha is delicious!! Highly recommend this place!

We shared a bowl of their wild rice soup made in house and a side of sweet potato fries which are deep fried. I had the small house salad (which seemed to be served with arugula) and ranch dressing because they did not serve caesar. Altogether the meal cost $15.00.
We thought it was wonderful, and will go again next visit.

Very delicious breakfast with many options. Great service and great food.
