This place.. simply amazing.

We were up in the area visiting family and my husband went into town and found this Cafe. This place brings a door county feel without the door county price tag.

This cafe has what it takes to start a positive change in the business and restaurant culture within the surrounding area.

Highly recommend! We stopped here for lunch on the way to Canyon Gorge. The reuben sandwich was super delicious. I didn't try any of the baked goods, but they all looked great.

Everything was excellent. The food was delicious and the service was terrific. We had grilled veggie sandwiches, egg salad, homemade ice cream and cookies. Thanks for a great experience. Highly recommend you stop in if you are in the area or passing through.

The place:
Nestled in L’Anse is the sweet Café L’Anse, a shared use kitchen and purveyor of baked goods. Seating is of the half bench, half chairs variety along 3 or 4 6-ft tables topped with irregular copper sheets. There’s a single unisex bathroom on the other side of the counter. You wouldn’t believe the sunshine that graces this space in the morning. If you need a reason to be cheerful, that’s certainly one.

The food:
Incredible. The menu cycles, so be adventurous when you’re visiting! I got eggs (over easy), home fries, and a slice of sourdough toast with a peach turnover and coffee. Everything made me want to savor the experience. The eggs were perfect and golden, the toast was probably the best sourdough I’ve had in my life, and that turnover…
I really should have taken advantage of the free refills on my in-house coffee since it was that good, but I was happy to linger over what I started with.
I also got some pastries to bring home and they were out of this world.

The service:
I felt right at home because of the stellar service. The two ladies explained to myself and my friend how the café works and their commitment to quality and environmentally friendly approaches. I even made a connection over family in a similar area out of state. I got the feeling I could have sat there for hours eating baked goods and chatting with folks.

Next time:
I have to go for lunch. Breakfast was fabulous, but I want to make sure I sample everything!

We stopped again... And again it was marvelous! The breakfasts were delicious and they allowed us to customize our order, by removing ingredients, and then made them to order. Thank you! The endless and delectable cups of coffee and multiple choices of creamer, including oat milk, gave me reason to try them all (except the decaf, though I was tempted.) Jenn used our camera to take a picture of my family, which was delightful and greatly appreciated but too personal to share. It shows the amazing tables chairs and inventive menus. Oh, I almost forgot that we go for the baked goods especially the turnovers. When I die I believe St. Peter will ask about these because they are sinfully delicious and the artistically frosted cupcakes more sinfully decadent.
While you're there... Step into the attached gifts shop featuring skilled and talented local artists. What a great gem in the vast and beautiful Keweenaw Bay area.

Cafe L'Anse is truly a hidden gem-- I have never left a Google review before, but I feel the need to spread the word on this one. I happened to come here for lunch with some friends on the cafe's 1-year anniversary and we left singing its praises! The teriyaki kebabs over rice were fantastic (I could honestly just drink the sauce and be quite content), and everyone was very impressed by the variety of greens in our salads. We all broke and bought some of the baked goods (of which there are many) for dessert. I can't speak to every baked good in this establishment, but the cheesecake, pecan pie, and apple pastries were wonderfully made and I have full faith that the rest of the desserts in Cafe L'Anse will not disappoint. The ice cream here is even homemade!

The owner informed us of the sustainable dishware (very refreshing in a world of problematic, single-use plastics), another unexpected plus to go along with the great food and reasonable prices! The overall environment here is very positive, with cozy seating and kind, sociable workers that really seem to care about what they're doing. I will definitely be returning and I hope that you decide to come check it out too!

Loved the atmosphere and window seats--quaint and cozy. Also appreciated the wide selection of self-serve beverage options...everything from kombucha to Diet Coke. My kids enjoyed their chili and a turnover, but my cheddar broccoli soup was not good, not good at all. I'll be back to try something different.

Ive eaten at Cafe L'Anse alot lately and enjoy the daily variety on the menu of soups sandwiches and breakfast items. I've tried many of the fresh baked cookies pastries and treats they have a sparkle of love and really enjoyed them. I buy my Niemelas maple syrup here since the price is the best in town.

Such a gem! We came here for lunch and had the grilled cheese, salmon burger and peanut butter fudge (to die for!). Food was delicious, staff was so nice. Could tell they were genuinely asking if we were ok vs being forced to. Decor was so well thought out and cute!
