Matchhead Coffee

Matchhead is a fantastic place for some good coffee and a spot to chill.
Lots of comfortable seating and places to work.
The coffee is delicious. The espresso machines, equipment, bar, and coffee is well thought out.
The baristas are great, and do a fantastic job.
I like how clean, simple, and elegant this place is. Absolutely in the “top 3 shops” of Kalamazoo.
Also, Radiant Church operates Matchhead as a non-profit. The revenue goes to support the overall uplifting of our community!

True third wave coffee. Ryan was knowledgeable and served a wonderful shot of espresso. This is my new “go to” for GOOD coffee in Kalamazoo.

Incredible atmosphere! Loved the quality of the espresso. Had the Orange Rosemary Latte and thought it was delicious. Great place to come hang with friends, colleagues, or just get some work done.

Super vibes! Kalamazoo downtown was missing this place. 2 years ago, you couldn’t find a proper cortado around. Now, heaven! Deserves 4.6 not 4.3. They had two wonderful espresso options when I visited today.

The latte was good. It is pretty empty in the morning which is nice. While I was there one of the baristas was loudly talking to a customer and joking around with him and then she flipped them off. She then talked loudly about her fears for the future and going to college and it is super echoey in there because it is a lot of hard surfaces. I thought it was weird since I think a church owns the coffee shop and I just didn’t expect that their employees would act that way and it made it hard to focus on reading. The same Around 1 pm a bunch of people come in through the doors in the back and it gets very loud. The latte was good and it might be a great place to meet up with a loud friend or take the kids but not a good place to chill and read or work. Maybe hit a different coffee shop or bring headphones if you need a place to focus.

I love this coffee shop! The coffee is 10/10, the workers are so friendly and helpful, the environment is calming. It's a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee and a book or getting a cup of coffee with some friends. Would 100% recommend going to Matchhead!

Nice space, fun retro vibe. We WOULD have tried your products but we're ignored by the barista who was too busy flirting with two young guys at the counter. We didn't see any other employees available but the place was pretty empty when we walked in at night. We waited for a while to be served but eventually left as she continued to disregard us.

I love the retro atmosphere of this place and their minimalist menu. You won't find a million flavors of syrup, but the quality of their coffee is fantastic. Very friendly baristas too!

Disinterested service, and employees were unable to state which charities exactly the shop is supposedly donating to. This is suspicious as Matchhead Coffee is a front for a shady, anti-LGBTQ+, corporate mega-church that is raking in money and doesn't pay any taxes. Cappuccino wasn't good, either.
