The model local cafe, but I don't go here for quality espresso.

Atmosphere, 5/5: Cafe Casa is crawling with plants and cute eccentricities in every nook and cranny! I love the fun and vibrant style they so excitedly embrace. The team will warmly greet and wish me well on my way out of every visit. They set the standard for what it means to be a local cafe working closely with their roaster for thirty years and serving housemade food & syrups (they grow their own rose, lavender, and sage based syrups + many non-housemade syrups) and display local artists' work for sale on the walls. Sustainability is a clear value as they always serve in ceramics and encourage recycling. The baristas know many of the guests and can connect easily with anyone from any background. The customer service here is exemplary.

Food & Drink, 5/5: A shockingly inclusive menu! I have asked for their soup every visit, and am impressed by the vegan and vegetarian options. They cycle through a diverse selection and look forward to what I can try each time. I have a troubled appetite, but I've finished every meal! Each sandwich is made to order and a diverse selection is available on their menu. Separate, labeled steaming pitchers are used for non-dairies. They charge for every modification, including whipped cream, but offer coffee AND espresso ice cubes for your iced beverages! Non-dairies offered include almond milk, soy milk, coconut milk, and oat milk. A tea menu is also availably

Espresso, 2/5: The first time I ordered a double espresso (don't call it a doppio, they are not trained on that terminology), I was caught off guard because it looked like a quad shot in a teacup with nearly no crema. I took a sip and enjoyed what tasted like an americano. Not bad to pay $3.50 for a double americano! The over-pulled espresso is the standard, however. I will never order a cafe latte here for fear the beverage will be watery and weak with the espresso masked by sweet syrups. They do not serve cubanos or cortados, nor would I order one here. The last sip of each "espresso" has had grounds in the cup, some as course as a pour over or metal filter! If they were able to consistently pull espresso shots with a defined heart, body, and crema, Cafe Casa would rival many local offerings for my favorite spot to stop. The flavor profile has so much potential too! It has low acidity and a smooth chocolatey taste. Until then, I will order a "double espresso" and enjoy what tastes like a delightfully affordable americano. Not rated 1 star because the flavor profile of espresso shows incredible potential.

I discovered this coffee shop while visiting my nephew at Kalamazoo College.

Caffe Casa is the PERFECT coffee shop!
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff is friendly!

The coffee and speciality drinks were great and pastries were SO delicious! I had a cinnamon scone and actually bought a second one because it was so yummy!

I can’t wait to go back the next time I’m in Kalamazoo!

The place: Nice aura, okay food, everything is expensive, only good treat are the brownies, you have to pay extra for food to be warmed up?? Toasting a bagel is like 75 cents more or something. Fine for a coffee but not much else. Oh yeah and if you’re vegan and not cool with honey don’t eat their vegan labeled products.

The owner: I heard (I know) she takes half of the tips from her employees, far too chatty and doesn’t seem to care if people are waiting, owners partner is creepy to young women.

Absolutely fantastic experience! The atmosphere is comfy and fun, everyone was incredibly nice, and the food was amazing! The raspberry cheese croissant is delicious, and I really appreciated having somewhere welcoming and quiet to eat after the long drive to the city.

Always an excellent experience, I love coming here because I know I'm supporting a local business with great products and staff. 100% recommend.

Loved the atmosphere here, almost felt like a book store/library feeling. The employee working the register was so friendly, food and coffee were good!

Great coffee, great atmosphere. I kept my order simple (large black coffee) and ordered to-go so that I could sip and shop. The coffee was great, but what really stood out was how friendly the cashier was. Definitely had the feel of a family-run coffee shop

I was able to try a Peppermint Mocha from Caffe Casa the last time I was in and absolutely loved it! The staff are great and incredibly friendly, and it is a really nice space with tables outside and in, with almost a Paris cafe vibe to it! I have heard great things about their house made Lavender Syrup/flavoring and hope to make it in to try that soon!

The best coffee shop in Kalamazoo! The staff is very friendly. The plants and greenery make the space feel relaxed and welcoming. And their chai tea is so good! Even if I no longer lived in Kalamazoo I would come to town to stop here.

Great locally owned and family operated coffee shop! I work downtown in the kalamazoo mall strip and this is my go to every morning! If you’re looking to support local and have good coffee… this is your place! (Also the owner is so kind)
