New find…nice coffee shop with lots of space, but was crowded when I was there. Lucky I found one place left to sit. Several groups came in and left because there was no place to sit. Looks like it’s very popular place, mostly college students studying. I was there around noon. Had their americano and it was good. They have some food offerings and bagels. Another coffee shop nearby so could pick one or the other if busy. Place is clean but I did not see any masks or anyone wiping down tables, so if that’s a problem…Also , they have a printer available.

I spend a lot of time at various coffee shops around Grand Rapids, meeting with people, and I've never had a favorite before. A few months ago, someone I was going to be meeting suggested Roots Brew Shop, which I'd never heard of before then. Since then, I've come here a number of times, and I definitely have a favorite now!
The people that work here, from the owner to the employees, are kind, open, friendly, and warm, with an eye towards building community. The drinks and the coffee are delicious. I drink a lot of coffee (I need the caffeine!) but I still don't quite like the taste, and so I usually take milk in my coffee. The coffee here, however, is rich and smooth where I enjoy the taste without anything added.
Both in terms of environment and the menu, this is an excellent coffee shop to meet a friend, get work done, and build connections with other people.

Roots Brew is one of those eclectic shops where the chairs are mismatched and decor comfortable. There's nothing pretentious about it. Coffee and local-made baked goods are excellent - be sure to hit up their waffle Saturdays when they have them!
Lines can be long, so have patience on a Saturday morning or weekday business break. But it is worth it!

I am from Holland Michigan, yet, I will drive to GR just to be in this warm cocoon of a coffee shop.
The dark aquamarine walls are inviting and the mismatched furniture is super fun! The leather couch in the back corner is my favorite place to hangout and work! It’s atmosphere is inviting and the people are friendly! What more could a gal ask for?

Without fail, Roots is my favorite coffee shop in GR. Their vibe is super welcoming and the decor is gorgeous.
The Rosemary and Sea Salt bagel with the scrambled egg bacon and cheddar cream cheese is incredible. I love that their lattes aren't cloyingly sweet like some of the big chains; they're the perfect balance so you can still taste the coffee and not just sugar.
The owner is an absolute gem of a human too.

The absolute best coffee shop I've ever been to in my life! The vibe is so chill the music is perfect. It didn't leave any stars for their food because I didn't eat any but I'm sure it's good as well.

Coffee and teas are always great! The food on their regular menu is good, and they often have waffles on Saturday mornings!

This is a great spot to meet up with friends. The atmosphere is really relaxing. The iced green tea was really good.

Pretty good coffee and roomy cafe! I had the mocha latte and my friend had their drip coffee. We both enjoyed our drinks. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
