Bulrushes Cafe

Definitely deserves a 5 star rating. Very pleased we have a Cafe of this caliber in Central Calvert County. High quality food perfectly prepared. Sausage gravy with biscuit was delicious (large portion, I couldn't finish it all. Had remainder for breakfast the next day). The pizza scone and cinnamon roll with caramel were amazing. Thank you Bulrushes, you will be seeing a lot of me.

I will not be going here any more. I've been a handful of times and like the Greek burger. It was ridiculously small this time. Politely expressing my dissatisfaction got me nowhere.

Update: I have edited my review to go from 2 stars to 5 after the owner reached out to me. He took full responsibility, made steps to take care of the issues on his end, and gave me my money back and a gift card for a future lunch. All we can do is our best, and I give the owner full credit for being honest and doing what he could to make things right.

Out of towners here...this is a gem of a place. The staff was so nice and the menu options are good. Omelet was good BUT...kudos to the kitchen staff on the cheesy grits...oh my heavens!!! Sooo good and creamy.

We were headed to another spot for breakfast and my husband said he'd like to try 'something different.' That's when we found Bulrushes Cafe. And, we are so glad we did! Great set up. Order, seat yourself, and wait for the deliciousness to be served! Friendly and attentive staff. Food was very good. That cinnamon roll was to die for! I asked for my build-your-own omelet to be 'well done' (not one for 'runny' or 'wet' and it was perfect. Food was fresh and the $ was reasonable. We'll be back for sure!

Very odd business model. You sit down at a table (sign says “Seat yourself”), but no one comes; you have to go to the bar to place an order. Then when you pay at the bar, you are prompted to include a tip - even though you have yet to get anything. Employees all huddle behind the bar.

Food was OK. Toast wasn’t toasted - well maybe for 5 seconds. Coffee was good. Don’t know that I’d consider returning.

A quaint, make yourself at home cafe with an adorable cast and crew. Menu was scant but everything that is on it is a home run. Service was prompt and food portions were generous and delicious. If your in the area, go ahead and drive past the Bob Evans and enjoy the ambiance and flavors of Bulrushes Cafe.

Excellent place that eat! Wish they served dinner!! The food is delicious, the muffins are exceptional!!! Owners are wonderful people!

This is a "go-to" spot when in Prince Frederick. Actually, I love to meet with employees and clients here as well! The food is delicious, home-cooking, at it's best!

Amazing place to eat! The food is always great and service is friendly and helpful every time. The type of place where your coffee cup is never empty. This place also serves Free Breakfast to Veterans on Tuesday mornings. You can’t beat that. Easily one of the best places to eat in SoMD.

Our first visit here and the experience was nice. My partner ordered the sausage gravy and biscuits which was delicious! I ordered the shrimp and grits which is my favorite but it was lacking in flavor and cold when it was brought out. One of the ladies noticed that I barely ate any and asked me if I wanted something else to replace it which was very nice of her. The chicken and waffles were a perfect replacement. Very good experience and customer service.
