Rock City Cafe, located in downtown Rockland, Maine, is not your typical diner, cafe or coffee shop. Upon entering you're in a trendy coffee shop with lots of choices for coffee and lattees. I had a Costa Rican blend that was excellent. Move beyond the coffee bar to enter a diner area. I didn't eat but the diner seemed quite busy, a good sign the food is good in a town with several choices for excellent food. Then moving beyond the diner you'll enter a small book store with new and used books for sale. Rock City Cafe is a fun place for a refreshing cup of coffee, a quick bite to eat or browsing for books.

This place is awesome! Everything priced great, and food is terrific. Came out in this area for lobster fest and needed a spot to hang out and relax. This suited!

Rock City rocks! The gentlemen who work there are pros in hospitality. I drive for 3 hrs from another state just to experience their customer service whenever I get a chance. Please never change!

Great customer service at the counter. Our barista was very knowledgeable about the coffee and helped me select an absolutely delicious light roast Ethiopian coffee. The blaze has a great vibe and is very comfortable for working

I recommend the blueberry scone, and the hot chocolate is made with milk instead of water.

I loved finding this cool Café and adjoining bookstore! It's now clear to me that as far the Cafés I enjoy, I certainly have a "type". A groovy, colorful chalkboard menu full of food and cleverly named drinks. I snagged a new book and enjoyed the Ambrosia.

Short version: If you are *vegan* don't even bother going to this place. No vegan options and very rude staff.
Long version: If I could give a minus 5 stars I would. We had THE WORST experience at this cafe on our last visit to Maine. My now husband and I spent 10 days in beautiful Rockland for our wedding and we visited virtually every single bar, cafe and restaurant in the area and nowhere were we treated with such disrespect. We are both VEGAN, so any vegans out there please don't even bother visiting this place (or any lactose intolerant person for that matter). We went there at 9am to have breakfast with our family the day after our wedding (our entire family came from all over the US and Canada to be there for our special day) only to realize they don't have not even ONE vegan option in their breakfast menu. Several members of my family are vegan, so we scanned the menu to see what we could order and there was a "Mexicali" wrap that was pretty much plant-based except for the cheddar cheese in it. So when it was our turn we went to order a few of those Mexicali wraps and we asked them to please remove the cheese from them and the answer we got (besides the annoyed face and tone from the cashier) was "that cannot be done", we politely explained again that we didn't want anything extra or outside the menu, we just wanted to have the cheese removed from the wrap and he (even more annoyed than before) repeated "that cannot be done" (no further explanation nor solution nor apology), we politely asked one last time the reason for that and, with clear exasperation in his voice, he turned to another employee who very rudely replied "that cannot be done" and walked away. We of course didn't order anything and then said "thank you" hoping to get an apology or something but he just ignored us and went to call the next customer in line. AWFUL experience.

Shout-out to Megan who works at Rock City and reunited me with a lost wallet during my visit. Rock City is the best spot in Rockland for Coffee (I also say this as a coffee shop owner myself). Always super friendly service, nice food menu, and prime spot along the main street. Looking forward to my next visit and thank you again to Megan! <333

hands down the best coffee I've had while on a trip. I went back multiple times.

Hot chocolate tastes like dog water, food is fairly good.
