jeb tried the food. jos tried the coffee.
if there is one thing you need to know about each of us it’s that jeb is a true lover of bagels and jos the espresso.

now let me tell you about forage.

jeb ordered a traditional everything bagel and lox (her traditional jewish background can never be shaken). according to her, and jos’ eyes, nary a lock(sp?) was to be seen on the bagel. one expects a nice crunch and a soft interior of a bagel. you ever chew on concrete? jeb nearly lost multiple toofs. devastating for a strong (independent ) jewish woman .

in regards to the espresso, let me encourage you to *not* go to forage. not a microfoam to be seen. no care in the craft. disappointment in a cup. nearer is lil woodford which is much better. better than that, though a further distance, is bard coffee. a BEAUTIFUL! cafe i must recommend!

We used to drive up to their location in Lewiston which is a wonderful spot. Now they are here in Portland. Great bagels made from King Arthur flour. The bran cranberry muffin is fantastic. All in a great space that used to house an industrial laundry.

These used to be the BEST bagels anywhere. I remember when Saveur Magazine called their Original Lewiston branch bagels, “the best in the nation”. And they were spot on. Those bagels were chewy, crunchy, with a great sourdough flavor. Perfect.

But, sadly, I just had a toasted ‘everything’ w cream cheese there this morning and honestly found it totally lame - sad and lacking.

The interior was a little fluffy, had no sourdough flavor, and worst of all, they served me whipped cream cheese on top. WTF? Yuck. Hate that stuff. Nut like real cream cheese at all.

Superior bagels, muffins, coffee, baked goods.

I've been going to Forage and getting the Soy Veh for YEARS. The employees are so nice, flexible, patient, and understanding! They've gone out of their way for me a couple of times and the food is DELICIOUS! I drive from Saco to Forage in Portland a couple of times a week. I wish I could go MORE. Love them!

Not gonna lie, food is great. No question. But, they lack any sort of attention to detail from a restaurant that you would expect to have that locked down. They’ve been working with one register for more than 2 weeks now, which makes the line insufferable. You call in an order to avoid the line, you still have to wait. You order a sandwich with an addition or subtraction while they are busy and they totally botch the order. They can get away with treating their customers like sh*** because their food is so good. Is good food worth horrendous service?

Do: Get the Squealer Sandwich and ask for the Bacon Extra Crispy (It's Thick Cut).

Don't: Try to eat it on the go.. ecspecially if you leave without any napkins (feel like it should be mandatory they hand you a couple with the sandwich).

Great sandwich, awesome flavor something you won't find at any other breakfast sandwich olace. Thry Had a lot of nice options on the menu (even Vegan) and the ice cold brew was great. Will go again.

The bagel sandwiches are amazing. Love their aioli. Also, fantastic space, can be busy but you can usually snag a table as people come and go.

Fresh bagels in house and unique flavors of cream cheese. Honey lavender if you like something sweet and the basil arugula for savory. Also sell beautiful flowers and plants in the front that are with checking out
