I grew up in Alfred, left for the military, and was excited to return 11 years later because I missed the friendliness of the people of Maine. I used to go to Alfred Country Store growing up. My brother and I would walk over for candy and sometimes on Fridays my family would get pizza or subs from there. Needless to say, I was excited to order pizza with my family from here for the first time since moving back this past Friday. However, when I called to place the order, the person on the phone gave me an attitude when I asked if I could order some pizzas, she was rude the entire conversation, and didn't even say goodbye before hanging up the phone. I was so disappointed after hanging up the phone, someone suggested I just don't pick the order up. But because I am nice and from Maine, I called back to cancel my order (not even 2 minutes after placing the order). Met with attitude again and "she already started making it," I told her I won't be picking it up because of her attitude. She said something like, "fine" and hung up. Never again. I don't know what happened but for a small town store in Maine, customers should be treated with more respect than this.

Ordered meatball sub with only two meatballs not pleased. Flavor was good and service was nice and friendly but come on and outdoor table need to be washed more frequently. Would go again but wouldn't order that again.

SHAMEFUL BUSINESS!!! Decided to check this place out for the first time on my way to the lake. The redheaded cashier "Bobbie" reviewed my driver's license for alcohol for almost 2 straight minutes before looking at me and demanding a 2nd form of ID WITH a date of birth on it. I AM 28 YEARS OLD with a valid, up to date, and perfect condition license. What exactly would my second form of ID with a birth date on it be!? She was very rude and condescending, VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! Felt very discriminated against because I WAS NOT WHITE! I was astonished by how confrontation the cashier was. I DO NOT recommend ANYONE visit this store! It is unprofessional and unethical the way customers are treated! Management needs to retrain cashiers or replace them if they cannot provide a decent level of customer service to the public!

Helpful, but most importantly very friendly staff. That is the necessary piece for a successful neighborhood store.

Typical small town country store. A but pricey but they have unique items for sale by local craftsman. Be unfortunately, they close early. Even in the summer. So, if you are camping nearby, plan ahead

Good place to buy food and drink, like a convenience store. I did not try any of their store made food. They also sell country type decorations. Very neat looking place.

The Alfred Country Store is my go to for breakfast pizza! I’ve lived in Alfred for 10 yrs and make the stop to see if the country store has it. They also have a variety of ice cream snacks and they have ice!

Its not a bad place, the coffee's good...The people can be a bit uppity, like something to prove or better than, but if you can get by that than you might be able to afford thier very high priced...which truly are good. Other than its really a likable place..and it's in my town which I take pride in. Thank you
