Very tasty food. Nice view of the gardens. We visited after touring the museum and gardens.

5/15/21 I came here for the first time. My date and I had reservations for 7 P.M. When we got to the hostess, she informed us that there were no tables available, yet. (Okay, no big deal.)
When we were asked to be seated at the ENORMOUS table, to be seated side-by-side, when we were not walk-ins seemed to be bit odd of an offer; however, maybe we would have preferred it...so it is fine that she asked. Not everyone can internalize reseravtions made would suggest that the people wanted an intimate seating area at their own table.

Once we were seated in an area apart from the wide-opened portion of the restaurant, we were able to enjoy a more quiet and reserved spot for our repast.

Our waiter started out fine, but he neglected us hugely later on in the dining: I had already cued him that I would need more tea (they do not have tall glasses...only gobblets).
At the end of our meal, he decided to bring a pitcher of tea for us.

The food that I ate: the gumbo and pumpkin bisque was tasty. None of these items I would return for, though.

My date's shrimp po-boy was nothing spectacular for that $$$$. There was too much dijon or creole mustard used.

The lasagna was not that good, either.
It IS a VERY BEAUTIFUL RESTAURANT, but it is not worth the hype.

One and DONE!

Fantastic hidden restaurant surrounded by lush tropical landscaping - this restaurant never disappoints! The Sunday brunch is all-you-can-eat and is a great value. The drinks are strong, cool and delicious. Make sure you stop in at the nearby Turtle Bar which is only a few feet from the entrance to this restaurant. It's one of the most interesting and unique small bars you will ever pop into in the Baton Rouge - New Orleans areas. If you do find yourself eating at Cafe Burnside or grabbing a delicious cocktail at the Turtle Bar, I assure you that you'll be smitten and continue coming here no matter where you're from our how long your drive is. Guaranteed!

While on business in the area our client took us the the Cafe’ Burnside and wow it was nice! The whole experience from sitting in the formal dinning room to our server that was excellent to the food being so damn good! I could see coming here for a special occasion like a birthday or a anniversary and for that matter, you could come at any time and be treated like a king or a queen! That’s pretty rare nowadays!!! Love this place!!! :)

Great spot to eat while touring the beautiful grounds. We had two dishes that ended up being enough for two meals. The Eggplant Napoleon was very unique and very tasty. Would highly recommend that. The oyster po-boy was also good.

À bit on the expensive side for what it is, but prime location. On the grounds of Houmas House, with replica dining ware, friendly employees, clean and well organized.

We are here after our tour and had way too much trouble getting our order correct. They're set up like table service, but only bring your food to the bar counter. You have to get up for every refill.

My friend is vegetarian and ordered a panini with the meat on the side. They gave her all the pieces to make a panini, including plain bread. So that makes it not a panini. We handed the food back and asked for it to be corrected, so they lightly pressed the bread and gave it back with an attitude.

Would not come back.

Love the food. We enjoy the buffet such great things included from Gumbo, Salads, Shrimp Pasta, Fried Fish, Chicken, Red Beans and Rice, Vegetables, Bread Pudding and drinks for $25 total with tax.

One of the best lunch buffets I've ever tried. The crawfish alfredo and bread pudding were both excellent. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
