I love this shop! Whether you want a classic coffee or something fun and different, they have lots of delicious options. Their pastries are fresh every morning, so I add that to my routine when I need a pick me up. The baristas are so kind and have great recommendations as well.
Hands down, my favorite coffee shop in the entire city! It is such a fun, eclectic little gem in a perfect location! On any given morning, you could be sharing the patio with one of the many regular canine visitors, or with a hometown sports hero, you never know who may drop in! The owner and baristas are cheerful and quick, and the one of a kind drinks they offer are out of this world! I recommend the Avalanche!
I could write a lot about my positive experiences here over the years. But to save anyone who reads this some time, I'd describe Hi Hat with the highest compliment I can give a coffee shop: even if their coffee was subpar or just terrible (it's the opposite, and I'd highly recommend the Butter Bean Latte), I'd come back for the atmosphere any day. Parking can be tricky because you're backing out on State Line, and it's a small space so you might have to wait, but it's absolutely worth it. What really sets this cool space apart is the staff. Hi Hat baristas aren't just professional, they are exceedingly kind and they genuinely care about each customer who walks in the door. And it's not just one or two of them, it's the entire staff's MO. I've legitimately never had a bad exchange with anyone, past or present, and during this pandemic, it's those small moments in the day that can make a difference. The owner, T, is genuinely one of the nicest individuals you could meet, and his shop might sell coffee, but it really provides joy. The Kansas City area coffee scene has grown a lot over the past decade, and there are countless new and established coffee shops you can visit. But if I had to pick one you should really try (or become a regular at if you're local), make a trip to Hi Hat.
Favorite coffee spot in town. Wide selection of drinks and some pastry options. A small, quaint shop with several outdoor seating options. They have the best staff - they are always so cheerful, pleasant, and genuinely kind.
Had a great blended drink with banana and espresso and almond milk and ice and it was delicious!! Really hit the spot on a warm KC day. Super friendly baristas work here too. I’ll be back!
This is the home of my favorite latte in the world. The Butter Bean latte is the absolute best latte I have ever tasted. I have not found another coffee shop that has toffee nut AND spiced brown sugar and makes it as well as they do! It's not too sweet and still flavorful. The menu is very creative and I can't wait for warm weather to try the cold drinks. The Baristas are so friendly and sweet. The place is charming. 5 stars.
Tasty coffee and friendly staff. Super small though. We were packed in there uncomfortably close at 5 groups of coffee goers. But things move fast so it's not a deal breaker for me.

Frosty Mint Mocha hit the spot on a 97° afternoon. We sat outside and watched 100 cars roll through the stop signs.

Sooooo many options for latte flavors. Small shop, big flavor. And the building is adorable. Highly recommend the butter bean latte.
