I rarely stop for coffee at this Caribou Coffee inside Hy-Vee, but over the years each of my few interactions has been very pleasant. Today was no different. Shout out to Allen and his colleague for making sure we knew about the specials, knowledgeably answering our questions, double-checking if we wanted a dairy alternative for just one or both of our coffees, making our drinks with care, and some short but fun conversation about the daily trivia question. It really was an uplifting way to start the grocery errand and a treat to sip while shopping the aisles.
This particular location is INSIDE of Hy-Vee Supermarket, and was closed at around 11:00 pm when we went there to pick up a few grocery items after an evening out. However Google Map is apparently unaware that the coffee shop is not a free-standing business, but a little kiosk. The supermarket is 24 hours, but the coffee shop is not. I didn't hate this place at all since I have not had a chance to try it, but needed to rate it in order to post information about the location in case anyone wanted to stop at a coffee house to have a quiet read, conversation with friends, or work on your laptop--not the ideal place for any of that. Just a quick coffee while you shop.
So, I visited on Halloween because my grandson had to use the bathroom and this place was attached. I've been there before but never had such awful service. Three items I ordered were not available and even though the barista (was she really?) asked if I wanted my muffin warmed up, it was handed to me fridge cold and when I reminded her I had asked for it warmed she asked me if I was SURE. Huh?
The coffee is great - but don’t stop during high volume times because you’ll be stuck waiting in the drive thru for 10+ minutes without even getting to the window. One time I saw the drive thru line and went inside to order and stood by the cash register for 10 minutes before I was even helped then waiting another 10 for my drink.
Saturday mid morning- Gladly charged me for 2 cups of drip coffee. After I paid nearly $5, she (the manager) told me they were almost out of coffee and it will be several minutes to brew more. I told her I didn’t have time to wait that long. So she squeezed out about 2 half cups of stale coffee.
Name is misleading. I brought my lovely caribou, Gino, with me to grab a cup of joe. I was told that he would have to remain outside while I placed my order. Well, Gino has separation anxiety and is prone to fits of rage if I'm away for too long. I tried to explain this to the barista, but I was met with contempt and ignorance. All I'm saying is if the place is called "Carribou Coffee", one would assume they'd be equipped to handle a mildly depressed but wonderful animal of the same name. One star.

Best coffee. I used to go to Caribou Coffee all the time up north, so I'm happy to see they're here in KC!
Campfire mocha is the best, but all of their menu items are pretty good.

Awesome coffee shop inside of HyVee. Delicious coffee in a variety of ways, both in how the coffee is offered and the types of coffee.

Yes, I currently work at this location - I do have a bias. 😉 I was a customer long before being an employee. 😁

I purchased the ground decaf care of blue land at Hy vee and loved it. It was better than Starbucks.
