The Roost

Excellent spot for bloody marys and breakfast after a long night shift. Love the chill vibe and the traditional Benny is always cooked perfectly. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Was seated near the front door and it was pretty cold. The server was phenomenal and the food was really good. I had the salmon Benny, aka eggs Benedict with salmon and it was delicious. Very generous portions and a great value. We will definitely be returning customers.

What a wonderful place! They stop seating about 1-2hrs before they close due to the wait list. The food is phenomenal and worth it! We put our name on the list (1.5hr wait) then walked down to the toy store and shopped around. The biscuits and gravy were the best I think I've ever had from a restaurant. So good that I bought ab extra order to go so I would have it the next day. ☺️ They are also dog friendly on the patio and provided water and lovins. I would make the hour drive from KC to go again. High recommend!!

Service was great, breakfast was ok and the coffee was the star of the show! I had the vegan hash and the potatoes and peppers were not cooked all the way through but the flavors were yummy. My husband said his biscuits and gravy were good but it was too much gravy to biscuit ratio. Wasn’t my favorite breakfast food but would go back for a cup of coffee.

Do not come here if you plan on getting right in to eat. We only had a party of 4 including my toddler, put our name in at 11:45am, were quoted 45 minutes, and they sat us not long after. Put in our order not long after and had to wait over 30 minutes for our food. We were at the restaurant over two hours, basically waiting the whole time. Great food, portions, nice staff, but don’t expect to get in and out quickly.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and vibe, and the food was good, service was great. Hash brown casserole was excellent!

Wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Coffee was sour, pancakes were flavorless and had an odd smell. Wait staff was fine, i guess- a bit awkward and miserable. Very fake nice. The omelette was good though.

Edit: The response to my review is a little discouraging. I'm not having a bad day. I gave an honest review of my experience. I'm sure their staff are all nice people and I caught them at a tough time. It happens, but our waitress WAS awkward and did SEEM miserable. It was an opinion my whole table shared. Idk, I don't appreciate having my experience discredited just because it may not be a typical experience at this location. Definitely will not be giving it a second try now.

The whole experience was good, friendly and helpful staff. Good hot coffee and I had the corned beef hash. And it really was the best corned beef hash I've had. It's never been my favorite breakfast but thanks to watching an interview with the owner I decided to try it. And would definitely order it again.

Amazing food, big portions, great prices, and stellar service. The best breakfast spot in town! They have baked goods, self serve coffee, a full espresso bar, and alcohol too. I try to go anytime I can, and can't recommend this place enough.

Absolutely fabulous dining experience! We were in Lawrence for some business and decided to eat at a local restaurant. My wife read some reviews about The Roost, and we decided to give it a try. The environment was eclectic, but not pretentious. The food was prepared at an extremely elevated level. The ordinary became extraordinary. We ordered a lot of different things so that we could try as much as we could and take the rest home for leftovers. We were happy we made that decision. Everything was hot, and tasted fresh, made-to-order. Hats off to the roost.
