Best brunch spot in Lawrence hands down. The food is phenomenal the coffee is delicious and the cocktails are really freaking good. You can get Bennie's, biscuits and gravy, and a bunch of other stuff. My biggest warning is you want to get there EARLY. No matter what it is pretty busy

The food was great. Of course on a Sunday morning there is a wait. About 30 minutes. I had the corned beef hash on this visit with a classic bloody Mary. The bloody Mary was spot on and a good way to start out our visit. Our food came in a decent amount of time. You can taste the freshness in it. I tasted my wife's gravy as I am a food connoisseur. I seen other reviews stating it wasn't very good. My opinion is that it was excellent. I could taste some chicken stock or broth in it which I thought was great. Common to cut down on those calories and add flavor. Not to mention they have homemade jellies and jams. Great flavors. I would definitely recommend going here and grabbing brunch.

Food was super tasty, drinks were great! I got a spiked coffee and it was the perfect add to my meal. Service was awesome!

Well... The staff IS great.. The food IS tasty... but good lord if I'm ordering potatoes as a side I expected a beautiful golden decent portion. Not the tiny cut up potato for $2. So if you want tasty food, good service and you're cool spending $$$ for several dishes to sate your hunger.

I thought the food was good and there are some more savory spices in the biscuits and gravy that help to elevate it. The staff was friendly. Ironically, the only complaint I have was the barista wasn’t very good. From the reviews, I have to assume/hope the regular barista called in sick.

I think how The Roost has handled service during the pandemic represents their identity as a business. They put the well being of their customers and their staff first, while also continuing to provide consistent and high quality service and food. My husband and I order from here regularly to take an order to go, and we also have dined in once and felt very safe. If you want outstanding food served by just as outstanding of people, look no further than The Roost!

This is the worst breakfast I have ever had... I rarely complain if I go out to eat, as I know it isn't the server's fault and I don't wish to inconvenience them or cause a commotion and more problems but the food was unacceptable. I went with my boyfriend and some of his family today and we had a smorgasbord of issues. My food was over-seasoned and the potatoes were overcooked and mushy as could be. My boyfriend was complaining about his potatoes too and I tried a bite and his were actually under-cooked instead. The coffee was good, but that was about all that was... The gravy for his family's biscuits and gravy was awful and described by them as "dog quality". We were disappointed all around but with how busy it gets and that we waited an hour to be seated we wanted to try and salvage the trip so we ordered dessert and crossed our fingers. We got three different slices of cake to try, and all of them were dry... The flavor was alright though. Overall, I will not be giving this place a second go and I feel gassy and bloated from eating there. I saw almost all good reviews and though I have never seen the need to write any reviews before I thought people should know there is a chance this place may not live up to it's hype.

Coffee is great, and I'm picky. Breakfast was fresh and tasty. We tried the chorizo eggs, corn beef hash, and the Kansas breakfast and we all enjoyed our meals. With the wait! Seating available inside and out, though limited due to Covid.

My favorite little breakfast place in Lawrence! I've been going to the Roost for years, and since moving out of Kansas, I always make a point to stop in when I'm in town. The food and the drinks are ALWAYS wonderful, no matter what I get. I was so pleased with the service during the pandemic. My food was brought to me quickly and I'm so happy to see them thriving while keeping their dining room closed for the safety of customers and staff. Keep doing your thing, Roost!

We used to love this place but maybe due to recent social distance standards things have changed. We got a cold hard biscuit with room temp gravy and not offered catsup/hot sauce, asked for ice water and only got room temperature tap. Maybe when we get back to normal things will get better.
