Our meal was delicious!!! Not only was the food great but the down-home feel, great service, and really cool clientele made it that much better. We will definitely be back.

Well start by the waitress was great. After we ordered (loaded oatmeal w/ a pancake and mine was country fried steak, 2 eggs, hash browns and toast) it took 1:17 to get said food. Oatmeal and pancake was good (wife said). Mine....eggs and toast were good. Hash browns ok. The country fried steak was just a plain hamburger with gravy on it...NOT country fried steak. I should have followed my gut and gone to Osage Iowa for breakfast. Wanted to support the local restaurants but this one I can't...sorry.

I almost never leave bad reviews see my history.
We waited an hour for our food, and the place wasn't that busy.
The food is OK, the staff was nice but they never warned us about a wait.
This is fine for locals to kill time in, but if you are traveling you might plan some extra time.
Price was great but I'd think such easy food should take half the time.

The service at Cook's Cafe in Mason City Iowa is above and beyond. Super friendly staff always made sure that you were taking care of. We ordered an omelet, pancake, crepes, and a half order of biscuits and gravy and enjoyed all of it. The omelet was delicious! We will definitely be back.
We absolutely love Amber! She's the best. We tried the cherry cheesecake today. Delicious. I would definitely suggest the stuffed omelet and pancake! My favorite

Cook's Cafe is a little hidden gem in Mason City that is one of my fave places to go to for breakfast!! It is very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is very welcoming n always treated like family!! I always have a hard time deciding what I want to eat because it's all so good! The eggs benedict is phenomenal!! This last time I went I got the ribeye steak, 2 over easy eggs, hash browns with onions, half order of biscuits and gravy n a glass of milk n all that was only $17 bucks!! Highly recommend this establishment any time of day for breakfast, lunch, or dinner!!

Waited 1.5 hours for our food!! :( But the biscuits and gravy were great, the servers were kind and the prices are very reasonable.

Thought the place might be a little busy, judging from the fullness of the parking lot and the weather was great. We placed an order for a tenderloin sandwich, a fish patty sandwich and a serving of onion rings. Wait an hour and no food but the help are pulling down the shades and shutting down the place. Asked if our order was ready. Nope it hadn't been put into the fryer yet. We didn't have another half hour to wait for carry-out so we cancelled the order and paid for our coffee and Pepsi and left. Probably won't be back for a long time. Better kitchen management is sorely needed.

Took some time to actually get the food, but the when it finally came it was fresh and hot. Also the waitress was very nice and helpful.

Absolutely unbelievable! I arrived on a Sunday morning at 10:00am and was told there would be a long wait. I said no problem and ordered a three egg Spanish omelette. It was busy, but there wasn’t a line out the door or anything. I watched regulars come in, order their food, eat, and leave. At 11:00 I was told by the server that my order was next off the grill. At 11:30, extremely angry, I left with a still empty stomach. How does a group of servers let a hungry patron sit at the counter for 90 minutes? I was a first time customer and will never return for a second chance.
