Who serves soup in a super wide, shallow bowl? The tomato soup was barely warm in the center, and completely cold on the outside. Flavor was spicy and texture was weird. I also ordered the grain bowl, which contained less than 1/8 of a cup of grain. Not much flavor in the cauliflower & sweet potatoes. Not impressed. Coffee tasted like it had been sitting in the pot a long time. Hubby said he liked his breakfast tacos, but they looked a little skimpy for the price (with no sides). G'dau liked her very overpriced yogurt & granola. We did have really great service, so there's that

Amazing way to celebrate Sunday with an brilliant friend & co-worker! We had a great conversation over breakfast & the service was excellent! We weren't rushed & ate our breakfast in peace. My food was sweet & filling & my friends was savory. Thank you for making our trip to Des Moines end with a great breakfast! We appreciate you!

In town on vacation, place looked cool so we stopped in. We sat near the kitchen window and bathrooms. Nice place, nice bathrooms. Food was pretty good! Baby changing table in the large one room bathroom was convenient. We would try it again. Not sure the girl working wanted us there but she cracked a smirk by the end. Also, loved the bacon. They were thick strips for once! πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ₯“πŸ³

Such a unique modern hip cafe! I loved how worldly the menu was.
The atmosphere was really nice, presentation of food was simple, and the place was clean.
It was easy to find and when we got inside the restaurant was super busy, but they still accommodated quickly. I enjoyed going with my family. Points for having a changing table in the bathroom!
We ordered a hot chocolate, chai tea, veggie sandwich, and I forgot the name of what my boyfriend got (sorry).

Stopped in for lunch while in town for business. Service was polite and prompt from beginning to end.

Having read so many positive reviews of the avocado toast, I had to try it, and I was definitely not disappointed. Some might want the bacon a little more done, but personally I don't want it super crunchy. The iced coffee was cool and refreshing on a 90Β° day, and not too bitter even without milk or cream.

I will say it's not a cheap lunch spot, but I think the ingredients, preparation and presentation justify the price.

Great environment, staff, and food! We had the avocado toast with a fried egg and bacon. It was fantastic! Our only tip is to be aware of the prices. We paid $60.00 total for two avocado toast meals (each with egg and bacon, which are up-charged), one cup of coffee, and the tip (20%). Although the meal was delicious, we definitely felt it was overpriced.

I came here on a rainy Wednesday morning. There weren't too many other people. Service was quick, the matcha was not sweet at all, and this lamb dish was amazing (though hardy). The vibe was unpretentious and the price was reasonable. 5/5 for me, was exactly what I had hoped it would be.

Very nice atmosphere, nice and well-lit place. We had just absolutely great service yesterday (1/22/23). No complaints on that part. Looked like they have a nice selection of drinks, we tried the mimosa and the winter break mimosa, both were tasty.

The complaints I do have? The food... Ordered mushroom toast ($15+$2 for the poached egg) and the Kimchi Reuben ($16). A long wait time (15-20ish) for both orders to come out cold..

-Mushroom Toast: both sourdough and mushrooms were almost ice-cold. The poached egg were solid, few seconds away from being hard-boiled. Mushrooms were delicious but slightly unevenly seasoned (some parts were really salty). Couldn't taste any truffle in the queso. Sourdough looked toasted but was mostly chewy and not crunchy.

-Kimchi Reuben: Same issue with the sourdough bread, kinda chewy and cold. Almost too much pastrami and too little kimchi for its namesake. Pretty sure the potato chips side came out of a snack bag..

Overall I expected a bit more quality in the food with the price tag attached. But great service and good drinks!

Food was good, drinks were good. Only scarce street parking. One bathroom for the whole restaurant seemed unusual for such a large restaurant. Not sure who our server was, but when we flagged down various waiters and waitresses for a drink or food, they brought us what we asked for.

Go here!!! This was by far the best meal we had during our long weekend visit to Des Moines. I ordered breakfast tacos, my partner ordered the steak and eggs, and we both had mochas (with house-made chocolate syrup). The weather was glorious so we ate outside and enjoyed the morning while experiencing exceptional service from a team of incredibly wonderful humans –and got to pet some incredibly wonderful dogs, too.

What a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back here when we visit this city again.
