Came in yesterday after 10am and was notified that they put a hard stop on breakfast at exactly 10:00am so we came back today.
We sat at the bar and got a latté and drip coffee. They use the local Horizon Line beans. Coffees were good. Food was good but not mind-blowing. I was thinking the menu was pricey for what it is but the portions are big and they use quality ingredients. The menu is limited but it seems to change frequently.
YUM. Absolutely beautiful and charming spot, busy but still could get a seat on a Sunday morning. Limited menu which is usually a sign that the food is good (IMO). Yogurt, oats, salmon avocado toast, french toast, etc. Something for everyone. Delicious coffee to top it off!
The atmosphere was saved by the decorations because it was somewhat chaotic. (If you’re a first timer in) You will be overwhelmed by the fact that it’s not very organized, and it wasn’t very clean where you should go.
The customer service was really bad and the barista was really rude and chaotic. She was yelling really fast about certain things that we can’t understand and no one cleans up the tables. So, it’s hard to find a table to sit down and enjoy your food or drinks. But, because it is located inside a hotel, the decorations were beautiful.
There’re paid parking on the street. But, sometime it can be hard to find a parking spot close to the cafe.
Loved the honey lavender latte with oat milk! Try out Hobnob for a quieter place to enjoy coffee in the morning inside the beautiful Hotel Fort Des Moines
Extremely cute, quaint place with elastic decor and cozy atmosphere. However, the service is severely lacking. The server was so annoyed by us and clearly by the fact that she was at her job in the first place. She hated having to answer even the most basic questions. Coffee she poured was half cold. Had to flag her order charcuterie and then had to hunt down some silverware and napkins ourselves since she never brought any. The tables were tiny and she never picked up the empty cups and charcuterie board even when we asked to pay. Overall the atmosphere and decor is awesome but was really disappointed with the service as that really brought down the experience of our first visit there.
The cappuccino was good, but one of the baristas was very rude. She was scolding her coworker for very minor issues right in front of the guests. She also didn't respond well to the customers when they asked for something or even thanked her for the order. For a nice hotel I expected a much more inviting atmosphere.
Really good! It was packed and understaffed, but they still provided good service, and my food was hot, freshly made and delicious. I especially liked the thick cut bacon and truly fresh squeezed OJ. It’s in a hotel so the prices are a bit high, but it is what it is.
I wish I had taken a picture (or 14) of the interior. This is the most aesthetically pleasing coffee shop in Des Moines, hands down. I quite literally tripped walking in because I was so taken away. All details (floor to ceiling) were well thought out to create a cozy, romantic atmosphere. And the coffee, delicious. I ordered a vanilla latte. They serve homemade syrup flavors in their coffee. I will be back to try out more, along with the wine. And to take some pictures this time 🤩

Incredible caramel latte. If you are staying at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, you need to go here.

Surprisingly good coffee and pastry shop, especially for being attached to the hotel.
