Coal Yard Coffee

A hole in the wall coffee shop. Go to the entrance and you just cannot make out where you got to, but when you enter you are transformed into a different world altogether! Dark decor, local art, antique pieces, tiny frames brim the walls. The bullet proof coffee with grass fed butter and coconut oil lit up our taste buds. Absolutely sensational taste. The vibe was calm, and not too many customers. Games like Chinese checker, chess for some fun. Free WI-FI and pets allowed. What more could I ask for.

Awesome place, cool people and great coffee. The coffee roaster is right in the shop! We ordered our drinks and hung out to watch a few roasts. Highly recommend stopping in and supporting this veteran owned business.

I got a pour over coffee and a crumble blueberry muffin; both were average. The coffee shop itself is unique and has a very laid back feeling.

Coffee was not great. My mocha was way too sweet and they didn’t have whole milk, just 2%, which is almost water milk. 3 stars because the wait was 30 min for a mocha and 2 drip coffees. Service was sooo slow.

Wonderful atmosphere and great drinks! This was my first time and I felt like a regular. Try the zombie espresso brand in a drink!!!

It has been years since I've had a beverage as good as I've had here. I ordered the Aztec mocha. Delicious! Reminded me of home

Great place to sit down and enjoy some great coffee. The barista was very friendly and made great suggestions on new things to try. There were also games available to play. I will definitely be back.

Simply not reliable in being open.
I have tried to come here 3 times in past 1.5 year or so. once Feb 2022 on a friday. once this summer on a Saturday (cannot remember the date) and today 1/27/22. All on days they are supposed to be open and during their posted hours (as confirmed on google and sign on their door)
I would love to give them my business, but do not think I will try again. I do not live close and have driven there just to go as I am trying to visit every independent coffee shop in and around indy.

This place is a hidden treasure in the Irvington community. The coffee is great, I highly reccomend a Chai latte made dirty. The folks that work here are super friendly and always greet us and our dogs at the walk up window. This is the best coffee in the city in my humble opinion.
