I am new in town and saw this place on socials before moving here. Friendly staff and a tasty looking selection (it was hard to choose), but I got the ham and cheese croissant to eat in and a classic almond croissant to take home. Both were flaky and flavorful! I also had the London Fog with oat milk and its one of the best I've ever had! The atmosphere was also nice, an intergenerational mix stopped in while I ate.

Amazing bakery. Was recommended by a friend to come by. Must try in the champaign area if your a bread person. They have a great variety. Fresh everyday. My kids and wife loved it. Will definitely come back anytime I am in the area. They also have some breakfast options which looked delicious.

Just tried it for the first time last week and it was great! Very bougee and upscale feel compared to what you find in central Illinois. The food lives up to it too! The croissant is light, super flaky, with sharp definitive layers that show the arduous process of the time and skill it takes to make them good. Best croissants in town. Everything else we tried was delicious and flavorful too! Great customer service and clean!

Me and my friends stopped by here for Sunday brunch, it was absolutely THE BEST bakery place i ever been to in chambana area so far. Staff was super nice and patient with my questions and taking my orders. Both my food and drinks were amazing! Strawberry croissant is highly recommended, best corissant i ever had in town. I will definitely come back to try the pistachio croissant and black sesame corissant! I appreciate the creativity they were able to put in their products, chambana could definitely use some of new ideas like that. I saw ppl were talking about this place being pricey, but trust me, what u paid worth their hard work and amazing products!

Pastries are lovely and fresh, professional yet not mass produced style you get at most bakeries. Personable staff. Comfortable and relaxing seating

Their pastries and coffee are unbeatable in this area, and I feel they are so much better than those bakeries in Chicago! When I come here, I usually get a large box for my families! Never go wrong!!!

Finally, a dedicated pastry shop that has both classic french pastries as well as Asian pastries!

The pastries look simple, but they're absolutely delicious. In the last 2 days, I've already tried their creme brulee, ham and cheese croissant, coffee cream puff, and red bean & cream bun.

Their coffee is also incredibly good and pairs perfectly with the sweet pastries. The standard latte is great but also definitely give the oatmeal cookie latte a try too. It really tastes like an oatmeal cookie!

It's venue is inside the Gather building across the street from Einstein Bagels.

Parking is a little tricky but there's some dedicated cafe spots located around the back of the building.

I highly recommend giving bakelabs a visit!

Delicious! The blueberry cream cheese danish was a perfect blend of sweet, tart, and creamy while the chocolate hazelnut croissant was light and fluffy with sweet, smooth chocolate and crunchy hazelnuts. I can't wait to try all the other goodies they have.

So glad Bakelab opened before I graduated! I passed the cafe a couple times going around campus and finally got to check them out (and then kept checking them out after my first visit haha). Bakelab’s pastry selection is a 11/10. You will not and can not find this selection elsewhere on campus or remotely near. Their pastries include the traditional French pastries but with a twist and they have an amazing selection of Asian buns. I love their matcha red bean bun, almond croissant, cream cheese croissant with cinnamon sugar (basically everything I tried I love)! Their cold brew is the same roast as BrewLab (sister company)—notable notes include smooth milk chocolate.

The only downside is that THEY SELL OUT FAST because their pastries are so good! I tried going in to try their matcha croissant but they were sold out by the time I went which was around 2pm (they probably sold out way before that though).

I can’t express how much I love this place. They have a wide variety of pastries and bread that are made fresh everyday. My personal favorites are the Chocolate Bun with Mochi and Oreo, Hot dog and Cheese Toast, and Almond Croissant. I also recommend their Oatmeal Cookie Latte and Matcha Latte with Oat Milk. I really appreciate the milk alternatives! The ambiance is great for studying or chatting with friends as there are plenty of seats as well as a large table for bigger groups. BakeLab truly holds a special place in my heart!
