It's good, just not great. Food is good but overpriced for what you get. Drinks are fine but again, just average. Service is fine but I've been there quite a few times and no one is friendly. They're not rude, they just don't seem to care. That being said, lots of seating with wifi. It's a reliable spot for a meeting or to have a decent drink while getting some work done.
Great place with a hipster vibe. My friends and I hang out here all the time. Everything is yummy and the staff is always polite and upbeat. Great place to read a book, work on a project, or catch up with friends.
I love this place to hang out. The neighborhood is really lovely and the area itself is beautiful. Inside is nice to chill with your friends and vintage looking. The food is delicious and I love their coffee. I love the atmosphere of the place and I just really enjoy going. I LOVE FREE WIFI.
Ever since Dollop purchased New Wave the coffee and service has gone down hill considerably. The staff is not friendly at all and actually quite rude. I watched them turn away a customer at 6:58am because they open at 7am, that's just unprofessional. I've worked as a barista, it's not difficult. Show up, smile, and make a decent cup of coffee.
Two entrances for easy access, great coffee, pleasant staff, good music at the right level to still be able to get work done, and a very relaxed vibe. One critique: it's too popular and in too good a location with too few tables and chairs!
Good working space on weekdays, good meeting up with people space on evenings and weekends. Lots of natural light, outdoor patio, great art, best women's bathroom graffiti in Chicago. Much cleaner then they used to be. I would give 5 stars if they had outer doors on their doors in the winter, freezing blasts of Chicago wind inside are a buzzkill.
Staff was very rude. First time in and I waited back with my son to decide. Wheni finally walk up to the counter I ask the worker how they are doing and was greeted with a so blunt, and as if I had disrupted their day by stopping in. I turned right around and left. My son and I went to Starbucks. The environment was great. The comments left for this place are nothing short of great. But I will never spend my money in a place where if I ask you how you are when I am buying food and beverage from you and you blantly are rude because you arent used to our faces or we took too long to decide, then trust me, there are too many other great places to spend my money. I thought of going back to maybe try a different day and have a better experience, but even my chill son was like...no. They were rude dont go back.
This is a quaint little place to come and enjoy some coffee. My husband had the brie and it was alot better than expected. As for the turkey sandwich I consumed it had just the right amount of garlic combined with lettuce and the turkey meat. The mocha coffee had a bit to much foam but after about 4 packets of sugar was much more satisfying.
One of the most important aspects to any coffee shop I go to (and I've been to many) is how "At Home" I feel. Everytime I go to New Wave I feel at home. The Chai is perfect, the space is very unique in style. Great location, just about 5 minutes walk from the blue line!
