Emerald City Coffee

Nice atmosphere. I would have given them five stars if they hadn't refused to serve me dinner. I arrived a few minutes after 6:30 to see the comedy show. Really, with a packed backroom they couldn't have made me a sandwich or reheated their soup in the microwave!

I really love this place, it’s got a great vibe and the staff are awesome. I don’t love the coffee, but do love the food and the drink selection because it is so unique. The space is great and allows for quiet spots or places where you don’t have to be so quiet.

Come for the great work space, stay for the raspberry chocolate chip muffins. This coffee shop maximizes its large space with great tables for study, while still keeping a really cozy coffee shop feel with great decor, lots of light, and little extra touches like board games and a daily trivia question for guests. Sandwiches, etc available on the menu. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and it's clear they're invested in supporting the community they're in. Wifi, plenty of outlets, and PrintWithMe available. Especially would recommend for students at Truman right across the street. Without a doubt my new go-to spot.

Best coffee shop in the neighborhood, hands down. Try the breakfast tacos! Wonderful staff, dog friendly, and super involved in the local community. Doing Uptown proud!

Beautiful and so quant. The baristas were all very kind and the people were nice. It is a great place to work or just relax. There are comfy chairs and board games as well as tables with plugs. Plus you get a free refill on regular coffees (including iced) and ice teas!

Came here a couple years ago because I was a student at Truman College across the street. This particular interaction really stuck to me so figured I’d post about it since I remembered. There was a white guy there that treated me so poorly. He seemed so irritated by my presence and just gave a horrible vibes. Not sure why he treated me this way as I was just another costumer. I came up to him to ask for the wifi password and he didn’t even have any eye contact with me and simply pointed with his head at the sign that had the wifi password written on it. Just a horrible very unwelcoming experience so I never returned.

Stumbled upon this place during my first visit in Chicago. The staff was super friendly and one of them gave me a punch card with 6 punches out of 8 so that I would come back during my time here. I really appreciated the kind gesture and would totally recommend. I had the Expresso Miel, it has nutmeg in it and I loved it. Also the cinnamon roll - warmed up and good. I stayed in my little corner reading, and felt comfortable and undisturbed. Great place to visit!
