Emerald City Coffee

Had never been in here before. Pleasantly surprised by how much space there was. Great atmosphere. Perfect environment for those who need to get a ton of studying done.
Good pastry and food selection.

Best local coffee shop in the neighborhood. Super friendly staff and creative coffee combos. Must try if you're in the area.

The lovely barista kindly walked me through ordering something I'd like to drink as someone who usually doesn't order coffee! Top notch service and a comfortable interior. Yummy food too.

This isn't my favorite cafe. The coffee is ok but the location under the El can get a little noisy. Other than that they have good customer service.

Experienced Emerald City for the first time today and it did not disappoint. I ordered a caramel macchiato and a slice of their walnut banana bread (vegan). Both were perfectly amazing and the staff was very nice! While I did not dine-in, the atmosphere of the shop was extremely comforting as well. I will be back!

Emerald City has a wide selection of coffee and tea; the food is also quite good. Sometimes I go just to get a sandwich because they make all of their stuff fresh. The staff are all very friendly and the place is comfortable for sitting and reading on the weekends or working on the shared puzzle.

Fast service and cozy atmosphere.

I havent tried too many different items. I usually just get a soy latte and vegan oatmeal bar. Wish they offered hemp milk as in option.

Also, lots of beautiful art work. I wish they had the artist contact info available. I really want to purchase the house boat photo but no one knows the artist. :(

Overall, chill place and fast. Perfect for a quick coffee break before hopping on the redline.

Great coffee, I asked 2 employees if the Emerald City was named after the Wizard of Oz. One had no clue, the other didn't know for sure but didn't think so... I don't care if they don't know or don't think so, in my mind I asked that Wizard of Oz In that Emerald City to give me the best black coffee in the entire infinity of outer space and this place is where i received that cup of black coffee, and my wish... Well witch that came from a star... My wish came true!

This place is one of my favorite coffee shops. There needs to be more Emerald City coffee shops in Chicago man there's only two that I know of. It's a very Cozy coffee shop, you have great music they host events there they have puzzles for your kids and for us puzzle lovers. I'm one of them. They also have dope bathrooms. Like these bathroom smell so good and they have like a chalkboard kind of thing where you grab the chalk and you like write secret messages and encouraging quotes or whatever and anybody that goes to the bathroom can reply to somebody else's quote. The food there is really great, I wish they had more options for chips though they only have potato chips for some reason and you get potato chips and a pickle with everything. There grilled cheese with sourdough is the bomb don't try to be healthy and get it with wheat bread because it's terrible. Do not try to order online or check their menu online because they haven't updated their menu. The prices are cheaper online and when you get to the store it's like what happened so expensive compared to the prices they show you online but it's quality food.

Espresso is good, but this poor review is due to the service. For example this morning, I walked in an hour and a half before closing time, and was told that they’re closing in 30 minutes and they already shut off the espresso machine. Which on their site states they are suppose to close within an hour and a half. It was a huge waste of time. Shut off machines when you’re actually closed and not when you feel like it. Also bagels are served cold and they didn’t offer to warm them up.
