Emerald City Coffee

This place is like the Cheers of coffee shops—everybody knows your name. I feel at home with the staff at ECC. They seem to only higher smart, warm, and friendly people. For this reason, it doesn’t matter who is working, one is sure to have a wonderful experience. If that weren’t enough, the coffee, tacos, sandwiches, and confectionary treats are outstanding!

Was in the Uptown area earlier, and found this gem of a place on Wilson. Never been before, and the barista recommended the Cafe Medici which is some combination of espresso, chocolate, and hint of orange peel served hot or cold. I got it iced and it was superb. The place had some awesome looking pastries that I would like to try sometime. They do have indoor seating as of today, and it looks like a nice place to get work done with individual lamps per table. Definitely give them a try sometime if you are in the area!

I've lived in uptown for 3 years now and this is easily the best coffee shop in the neighborhood, maybe THE ENTIRE CITY. The owner Brian is a down to earth guy who works in the shop most days, he cares a lot about this business and is always working on it to fit the needs of his customers. Not to mention they have THE BEST cold brew I've ever had and it's also not going to cost you $5-6 like literally everywhere else. Their housemade balsamic vinegarette is insanely good, and everyone in uptown knows their breakfast tacos are the second best grab and go breakfast option outside of chiu quon bakery. LOVE THIS PLACE IS IT OBVIOUS?!?!?!

Filthy coffee shop probably a health hazard. Service is slow and disorganized. Walls, tables, counters are not clean which leads me to believe the kitchen and equipment are probably the same. Vent near bathroom has t been cleaned in years and it is in a high traffic zone next to the service counter. Management clearly does not care about quality. Gross.

I love this place! I remember a few years ago when it was simply a few crappy tables, and chairs. Now it's awesome. Come get coffee here.

Free WiFi, great little breakfast tacos. But drinks here can be really hit or miss depending on who is making it. Had an apple cider two days in a row, first one was amazing and the second was very bland. Can be chilly since it's a somewhat older building. They have board games and food available as well. Heard there's also some performances sometimes but haven't been to any yet.

Real nice place for good coffee and baked goods and sandwiches. Staff is friendly and I can't wait until we are able to sit inside again because it has a very comfy/charming facility.

Not the best service and okay drinks. A little loosely run but cute. I like the vibe and supporting local artists but unfortunately wasn’t impressed overall.

Love that they have some vegan options for snacks, but I haven’t been back in a few months because they definitely made my drink with dairy instead of oat and I felt really sick afterwards because of it.

One of my favorite coffee haunts in Chicago. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and believe it or not, amazing coffee! If you haven't done so, try the breakfast tacos - purely magical.
